I read it. The incest was just one facet in the whole novel. Mainly it’s about a insane mother who would do any to board up her children in a attic.

What’s interesting is the elitist liberals then make fun of some states’ residents by stating their family trees don’t have any branches. Or that there are thousands of people and three last names. They push it and mock it at the same time.

Flowers in the attic is the first set of books I ALMOST read until I wanted to tear my hair out

The first book was kinda good- but the author kept going and going into such a ridiculous story line I finally just tossed the last one I tried to read into the garbage halfway through.

I do know people who read all of them and thought it was great literature.

Not surprising fare for Estrogen TV.

Similarly, I remember seeing Vincent Price’s “Tomb of Ligeia” as a pre-teen kid and shrugging off the ending as “?”

When I re-watched it years later, and realized the necrophilia theme implied, it totally freaked me out.

She also kissed him for good luck here...

That's 3 smooches I count for Luke and Leia.

I had no idea Flowers in the Attic existed until a few years ago. It's really about child abuse; incest is involved, but the circumstances are far from ordinary and it is not presented as normal or positive.

Some of Anne Rice's books so disgusted me that I no longer read anything she writes, but Flowers did not strike me that way.
