A couple of weeks back, when news appeared of Mr. Obama’s executive order to “expand” so called background checks to confirm the mental health of firearm purchasers, it seemed on the surface to be somewhat innocuous. Making it more difficult for a “mentally unstable” person to obtain a firearm does, on the surface, sound reasonable, does it not? It does until one considers two critically important factors.

How does the fact that I purchased a gun sometime in the distant past prove I currently own a gun? I could have sold it, lost it, threw it in the river etc (which I would certainly claim if questioned. As for concealed carry, Yes, I do and don't feel the need to request permission to do so by applying for a CCW...If you feel you must be honest on these forms or with government stooges out of some sense of moral obligation or fear of legal repercussions then by all means, do so, by I choose to do otherwise.
