Harvey Weinstein Has Change of Heart On Violent Content In Films
deadline.com ^ | Jan 17, 2013 | Anita Busch

A day after he announced he was going to make a film taking on the NRA with Meryl Streep, Harvey Weinstein — the producer of several violent films — told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview to air tonight that he has had a change of heart about violent content in film. django-unchained-trailerAsked by Morgan about his hypocrisy of making these violent films, Weinstein said, “They have a point. You have to look in the mirror, too. I have to choose movies that aren’t violent or as violent as they used to be. I know for me personally, you know, I can’t continue to do that. The change starts here. It has already. For me, I can’t do it. I can’t make one movie and say this is want I want for my kids and then just go out and be a hypocrite.” He added that he would make a movie like Lone Survivor, “a tribute to the United States special forces,” but “I’m not going to make some crazy action movie just to blow up people and exploit people just for the sake of making it.” As far as Streep, he said, “people have to remember that Meryl Streep is an actress. She’s working as someone whose playing a part and all the heat should come my way.” Here’s the interview on CNN’s website in two parts

Good for him. Yesterday he was complaining about other people's slivers in their eyes, but today he has found his own board. If he takes this to heart, he can cut off some of the sewage flooding our culture, and he can make a bigger difference than attacking the law abiding. In life, the only person you have the power to change is yourself, and Harvy has reached that conclusion.

Harvey is a worthless little toad. He should give up all the money he ever made on violent or sexual movies. Then we’ll talk.

Excuse me for being skeptical about Mr. Weinstein’s “epiphany”, at least for now.

Actions speak a whole lot louder than words do.

I’ll wait and see if he is sincere.

I was thinking about what someone would have to pay me to watch the Streep movie in the theaters now.

I settled on $1000.

Nothing is little about Harvey. That is if 410#’s is little!

Harvey Weinstein absolutely owns guns. If he has ever hired a security detail, then he is paying for guns. It might not be in his hand, but it is under his control. This is gun ownership by proxy. Just because I cannot afford a private security guard does not mean that I should be left defenseless.

Do you really think this leftist very rich POS is changing? Does a chamelon ever permanently change? Does a skunk ever stop smelling? Does a marxist ever have a change of heart in the US (the last one was over 20 years ago when Prof. Eugene Genevese (once of Princeton), admitted that he was wrong to support the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.

No, Weinstein is a hardcore leftist. Follow his moneytrail and see who got it. Then tell me he has changed. I’ll believe that when he gives millions to the Tea Party organizations, to the NRA, and to the Heritage Foundation.

Waiting...Waiting...Waiting. Getting damned hungry while WAITING.

Good for him.

Good for him? the slimebag realized that he was about to throw millions of dollars down the drain in order to show his hypocrisy in producing a movie that only a few libtards would actually spend their money to watch.........

Oh, he'll sincerely make a movie trashing the NRA, the second amendment, gun owners, and conservatives in general.

His little 'enlightenment' episode is just to take a little bit of the edge off of the 'hypocrite' accusations.

He's already made his money off of gun violence in his movies. He'll continue to make leftist trash even if he does keep his word (unlikely) to keep the gun violence out of it.

Harvey is walking his mean fighting/ firing words back for now, so his pet project will look like a better investment. As soon as he has enough financial and starpower security, out come the elephant guns, back in goes the contrition. Harvey expects the kind of person who sees his films will have already forgotten the violent, baiting language he is using today. He’s not worried, sees it as a really fun game, that he has (government) rigged to win.

Yes, if he felt real remorse, he would be donating some of his fortunes to victims of the gun violence that he is now admitting he may have encouraged.

I think he wouldn’t be doing this if he hadn’t had a backlash, but, I’ll give him a tiny measure of credit if he follows through and actually stops making such violent films. He’d at least have more principle than 99% of liberal celebrities if he manages to keep that promise, though that isn’t saying much.

Now, doesn’t his studio have a contract with Tarantino, who has made the most violent Miramax films of the last couple decades? Is he going to let that golden goose go? Or will he demand that Tarantino start making family friendly movies to satisfy the contract? This could be interesting :)

Movies don’t make people violent. It’s all in the morality or lack of morality in each individual.

Event lines of work that include much violence don’t make people violent. After doing such a line of work for long, a moral man will only see less excitement and more sadness around him.

Don't be so harsh on poor Harvey. I'd go full commielib, if it furthered my career, and I already lived in a dig like this.

Here’s an idea Harvey...make an anti-NRA film, an anti-Obama film, and an anti-Muslim film.

Then we can see who does and who doesn’t make your life a living hell.

While I agree he is a slimebag, I don’t think he is saying he isn’t going to make the movie, just that he isn’t going to make the type he has become rich on in the past. At least that is his statement for today, to justify this upcoming movie..... but that will change again when he has a good script/money making project again.

Mr. Weinstein has returned all of the profits from his violent movies and is now adorned in sackcloth and ashes.

At least that’s what my wife... Morgan Fairchild... told me!
