Harvey Weinstein Has Change of Heart On Violent Content In Films
deadline.com ^ | Jan 17, 2013 | Anita Busch

Posted on 01/17/2014 4:02:26 PM PST by Vince Ferrer

A day after he announced he was going to make a film taking on the NRA with Meryl Streep, Harvey Weinstein — the producer of several violent films — told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview to air tonight that he has had a change of heart about violent content in film. django-unchained-trailerAsked by Morgan about his hypocrisy of making these violent films, Weinstein said, “They have a point. You have to look in the mirror, too. I have to choose movies that aren’t violent or as violent as they used to be. I know for me personally, you know, I can’t continue to do that. The change starts here. It has already. For me, I can’t do it. I can’t make one movie and say this is want I want for my kids and then just go out and be a hypocrite.” He added that he would make a movie like Lone Survivor, “a tribute to the United States special forces,” but “I’m not going to make some crazy action movie just to blow up people and exploit people just for the sake of making it.” As far as Streep, he said, “people have to remember that Meryl Streep is an actress. She’s working as someone whose playing a part and all the heat should come my way.” Here’s the interview on CNN’s website in two parts

You know, a week ago I didn't even know who this guy was. I thought, by the name, he was that gay guy who played Jeff Goldblum's boss in Independence Day.

Now I, and many millions more, know he is a huge hypocrite who made millions on movies about people getting shot with guns... If he means it, he should give all his money made with evil gun violence to the poor or victims or something...

I think the publicity is back-firing on him big time, and he's trying to walk his fat mouth back.

Too late!

harvey doesn’t give a crap about idealism, right/wrong, or making a difference. He’s all about ego and power. Like most leftists he’s all about style over substance. He’d rather say the right (politically correct) thing than do the right thing.

It remains to be seen if he will find the financiers for his idiotic little project.

Don’t go bat shit over this.

HW is a money man. He’s produced lots of crap, and some wonderful films.

What makes money?

Apparently not anti NRA films.

Some of the films he’s produced are fantastic - some of the best I’ve ever seen.

And they made money.

Money. Money. Money.

He’s produced several of my friends TV shows - idiotic shows, but they made money.

Money.

If he’s changed his tune in the last day or so, WE ARE DOING OUR JOB! Less money for HW.

Stay strong!

Weinstein was being skewered coast to coast — he’s just trying to contain the damage after the public began to smell the stench of his epic hypocrisy.

Harvey is a worthless little toad. He should give up all the money he ever made on violent or sexual movies. Then we’ll talk.

I'm in your camp, but...he's already made piles of money from exploiting guns and violence. There's not a snowball's chance in hell he'll give it up. He'll pose piously while snickering at the gullible flyover folk who think he's changed his ways.

A LITTLE DITTY FOR ALL THE GUN GRABBERS

The "Conspiracy Against Rights" Law, Title 18, Chapter 13, Section 241.

It says: Any Two or More Persons - who conspire to deprive a citizen of a right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution (like the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights), may be held personally responsible for damages. If these public officials conspire to injure, oppress, threaten or intimidate ANY PERSON in ANY STATE, Territory or District in the free exercise of any Right secured to him by the Constitution of the United States, that public servant(s) can be found guilty, and can be punished by up to 10 years in jail.

(And THAT means that if someone looses their life because you took away means of self defense, you are an enabler of murder. One of these sad days this is going to occur and I hope some politician(s) pay dearly.)

I've always felt guilty by saying that about Harvey.

After all, I'm no Adonis.

The real problem with Mr. Weinstein is not physical ugliness, but brain-dead mental/spiritual ugliness.

Autumn: Osage County was a good but overrated and grossly overstuffed-with-incident play, I saw it on Broadway/
There is NO WAY it would make a good film. It’s being sold in the corniest way possible : (fill in the blank) in the role of a lifetime! Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep together! Let all your emotions flow as you realize one is already old and one is aging!!!Two legends on the same screen-—is it big enough to contain them??? (my words of course, but you get the picture)

Vicarious liability. Ironically this legal tactic was successfully used by the NAACP and SPLC against White supremacist John Metzger in a case involving a racially motivated murder.

I don’t think so. He may change for ONE film but when this has blown over, he’ll work his way back into more gratuitous violence. His brief hiatus from violence will be seen as penitence/ He obviously got pressure from his liberal friends, who knew he’d gone too far...his “we’ll destroy them” rhetoric did not play particularly well anywhere.

"Good for him. Yesterday he was complaining about other people's slivers in their eyes, but today he has found his own board. If he takes this to heart, he can cut off some of the sewage flooding our culture, and he can make a bigger difference than attacking the law abiding. In life, the only person you have the power to change is yourself, and Harvey has reached that conclusion."

If only he had waited until a month before the movie, like Jim Carrey did to sink his own comeback flick KickAss2.

I used to correspond with Genovese, and at his request would send him any articles, etc. I ever came across where he was referenced or mentioned. Brilliant historian on the Slave South and world slavery, who just found it helpful to use Marxist analytical tools and concepts.I just knew he’d come around, so I wasn’t surprised when he turned. His wife Elizabeth turned before him, though she was not nominally a Marxist.

You are crazy if you think that. He is an evil man--he would rather be thought of as evil by us than called a hypocrite publicly, so he is making this one concession. If we can even believe a word that golem gonif says.

He will MORE than make up for that gap with movies about gaygaygay, sexsexsex, and Christian and Conservative bashing. I guarantee it. Let the younger guys do the violence.

John Nolte from Breitbart says it better than I can, but money is NOT the be all and end all for these guys. They will “take a few hits” here and there by making (for example) those loser string of (anti)war films from 2005-2009 and “artsy fartsy” pieces designed to poison the culture, not make money. For example, for every 3 money makers, they will make 1 “culture bomb”: A movie designed to promote some left wing cause in hopes it resonates with a few malleable, impressionable minds to further their sick, destructive agenda.
