A federal appeals court has upheld a trial ruling that requires taxpayers to pay for a murderer’s sex change. From the FNN story:
A federal appeals court on Friday upheld a judge’s ruling granting a taxpayer-funded sex change operation for a transgender inmate serving a life sentence for a murder conviction, saying receiving medically necessary treatment is a constitutional right that must be protected “even if that treatment strikes some as odd or unorthodox.”This probably means that Bradley Manning will eventually win his claim that becoming Chelsea Manning is a civil right.
People who predicted that Obamacare and health insurance would soon be paying for sex change surgeries were once laughed at. But if sex change surgery is medically necessary–rather than elective–under the law, I don’t see how Obamacare won’t cover it.
Meanwhile, in California, a new law essentially states that every gay person in the state is entitled to group health insurance coverage for fertility treatments if they want a baby. They may be biologically fertile, but are considered infertile because they don’t want heterosexual intercourse.
Straights, in contrast, have to demonstrate actual infertility to be entitled to mandatory group health insurance coverage for infertility.
Our medical priorities are shifting from being concerned foremost with saving or extending life, to facilitating fulfilling lives as determined by the patient’s internal narrative.
In the UK, for example, a 42-year-old woman is entitled to free IVF on the NHS despite inability to conceive at that age often having to do with natural body rhythms. At the same time, some terminal cancer patients are denied chemotherapy that can extend life for months, meaning they die earlier than they otherwise would.
That kind of thing is coming here, too. Heck, it’s here already!

(One thing I don't understand...it seemed free birth control, abortions, and sex changes were part and parcel of population control. Fertility treatment for those who could never reproduce naturally doesn't seem to gel with that.)
It could just be that your parents, like mine, wouldn't get us have a computer hooked up to the 'net in the bedroom to track all the crazy stuff going on then.
Remove it from “administrative segregation” and put it in general population.Within a few hours it won’t be in need of any disfiguring surgery.

It is the sign of a sick society that gives sex change operations t prisoners yet denies life saving treatment to cancer patients.
ObamaCare will be paying out billions for these. As well as for hundreds - if not thousands - of newly discovered, “medically necessary,” exotic procedures.
Any way to give Manning some judges to keep him company in prison?

It seems to me that the only way to halt this madness is to accelerate it by having conservatives bring lawsuits demanding even furthering of these gains by the left. The left needs to understand that their rights do not end with winning a new privilege but rather that at the heart of their struggle is the counter struggle which demands yet a circular swing back against their new rights with equal rights for others. In medicine then this would require a straight person demanding something like Glasses, or dental care, hearing aids, etc. which at present is not a part of the government’s healthcare package. Expanding rights for gays using their logic would overload the capacity of the system. Imagine the horror the dental profession will experience when they become obamacare employed, or those who sell eyeglasses. The idea that cosmetic surgery is a right should also be explored; ugly people should be herded into hospitals to be healed.
