Hoboken Mayor: 'It's True' Christie Administration Withheld Sandy Funds By Leigh Ann Caldwell, Chris Frates and Cassie Spodak, CNN

Zimmer tells CNN that Christie played politics with Sandy recovery funds Christie team denies funds were held hostage for backing of redevelopment project

(CNN) -- In another controversy surrounding New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer said Sunday that Christie directly ordered the withholding of Superstorm Sandy recovery funds unless she backed a redevelopment plan he favored.

Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," Zimmer said she was told by a member of Christie's administration that Sandy relief funds hinged on her support for a real estate development project and that the directive was coming directly from Christie.

"She said that to me -- is that this is a direct message from the Governor," Zimmer said, referring to Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, who Zimmer said approached her in a parking lot in May to deliver the message. It's "stunning" and "outrageous," but true, the Hoboken mayor told CNN's Candy Crowley. "I stand by my word."

Christie’s “friends” turn on him. This is what usually happens when you deal with commie libs and think that they are your “friends”.

It seems obvious to this poster that Christie is catching a lot of flack from both sides.

Can’t Republicans lay off?

I don’t support him, but I think he’s being singled out for purely political reasons.

Lay off Christie. At least until the real race.

Obama has withheld permission to dig a 50 foot long ditch in North Dakota for the XL Pipeline for years.

The Democrats got spooked by Christie, and jumped the gun with their character assassination. Now they run the risk of getting a capable conservative at the head of the Republican ticket.

CNN makes it sound like they were still pumping water out of the streets when this was supposed to have happened -- not more than 6 months later. From the NY Post: http://nypost.com/2014/01/18/nj-mayor-says-christie-held-sandy-aid-money-hostage/

"Zimmer requested $127 million for Hoboken but said she only received $200,000 in recovery grants, plus $142,000 for a backup generator. The state had about $300 million to disburse statewide."

With a city that has a population of 50K and has a little more than 1 square mile of land area, she expected to receive 42% of the available funds? Seriously?

As Rudy Giuliani said today -- this is a witch hunt.

The Fat Man is done! Stick a fork in him. Time to weed the party of such folks. Like McCain who thought the MSM were his friends-—the Liberals know their enemies—just look at whom they heap scorn upon and try to destroy? can you say—Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin? Christie thought he could work with them—he was wrong! No Liberal is a friend — they do not know the meaning of the word—they will toss their own under the Bus! The FatMan was a fool—thats all.

I don’t like Christie. As far as I am concerned he’s just one more RINO that needs to go.

That being said, he should be removed by Republican voters, not Democrat/Leftist sycophantic news media players and democrat hit-men.

If you want to throw up dirt on a politician, you can do so with any person you want. There are a myriad of things that go on in states that you can target, demonize, and slander a politician over.

How a governor disburses funds after a national disaster varies from event to event. There are many projects, and not all of them are going to make sense to the governor. Mayors and governors disagree all the time. If a governor has a plan he’s in favor of, why shouldn’t he push for that plan? Why shouldn’t he put the damper on other plans?

You know folks, I don’t care for Christie one bit, but I’ll be damned if I’ll play along with Democrats who are trying to take the man down over nonsensical charges.

F Democrats. F the press. I’ve seen this dog and pony show so many times, it’s just laughable.

Why do folks buy into this nonsense? Since when does the media or the Democrats actually care about crime, or doing something off-color?

Man, you have got to ask yourself what is wrong with this picture, when the Democrats claim to be going after a guy based on law and order. Really? That really challenges credibility.

What’s more, we all know it.
