Critics Ballistic Over Christian Film's Oscar Nod

Like David versus Goliath, an upstart Christian film has shocked the world by winning an unlikely victory in the form of an Academy Award nomination.

Only this time, the crowds aren't cheering for David.

Instead, mainstream-media Oscar watchers across the nation have blasted the Academy for choosing the hymn-like testament to God’s presence over hits by pop artists like Jay-Z and Taylor Swift.

"I can’t figure any of this s— out," an unnamed competitor told the Hollywood Reporter, or THR, after learning his or her song was beaten out by "Alone Yet Not Alone," the title song from the faith-themed movie of the same name.

Could be that everyone here is a little taken back by your choice of the word f n when we are talking about a faith based film.

You might have had a more gracious response to a question on a Christian thread if you had asked without an obscenity. That might not have set well with people who are discussing a beautiful Christian song and movie facing hostility from a coarse, obscene Hollywood culture.

...wonder how “a song that has been heard by virtually no one outside the branch from a film that hardly anyone has seen” secured an Oscar nomination”...

I seem to recall conservatives asking the same thing a few years back when Brokeback Mountain and Transamerica were nominated and Cinderella Man wasn’t.

or
Ummm - reading comprehension 101?
I says: “titls song from...the movie of the same name.”

Maybe it’s because it’s a religious song and you had to ask “what’s the f name”?

As you said, “ugh.”
