Swiss Guard veteran claims existence of 'gay network' at the Vatican
Guardian ^ | 1/20/14 | Lizzie Davies

A former commander of the Swiss Guard, the small force of men whose job it is to protect the pope, has said there is "a network of homosexuals" within the Vatican, the latest in a series of claims about gay priests working at the heart of the Roman Catholic church.

Elmar Mäder, who was commandant of the Guard from 2002 until 2008, said his time at the heart of the Vatican had given him an insight into certain aspects of life there. "I cannot refute the claim that there is a network of homosexuals. My experiences would indicate the existence of such a thing," he told the Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.

***

A working environment in which the great majority of men are unmarried is per se a draw for homosexuals, whether they consciously seek it out or unconsciously follow an urge," he said.

"The Roman Curia [the Vatican's bureaucracy] is exactly this kind of environment."

***

Mäder, while he said he did not have a problem with homosexuality, said he feared that a network or secret society of gay people within the Vatican could pose security problems. He added that he would not have promoted a gay man in the Guard – not because of his sexuality but because "the risk of disloyalty would have been too high".

Mäder said: "I also learned that many homosexuals are inclined to be more loyal to each other than to other people or institutions," he said.

"If this loyalty were to go as far as to become a network or even a kind of secret society, I would not tolerate it in my sphere of decision making. Key people in the Vatican now seem to think similarly."

And it is largely the ban on marriage for priest that is to blame in Catholicism.

I've heard that argument and it is ridiculous. It can be summed up as - priests are so horny, if they don't have women to have sex with, they will doodle little boys instead. Nonsense.

It has made the temptations greater. That is a fact...to put a mechanical restriction on men whose innate desire is to have a family is evil!

Actually, the report verifies Scripture.

Reread Romans 1:say vss 19-the end of the chapter.

Use a KJV or something close to a word-by-word translation,...the Living Bible misses it.

We see where God the Father will make Himself known to some people who still will reject Him, and they will go so far as to try and make Him a lie, even when they know Him. He in turn may simply turn them over to vile lusts and homosexuality.

vThanks for cussing while being religious, but while you claim that sex isn’t a part of Catholic marriage, except for the mechanics of procreation, that isn’t what the Vatican commander is revealing, he is describing a naturally built in climate for homosexuality at the Vatican and all Catholic leadership.

He is bringing up a denomination built on men who vow to never touch a woman, to stay above women and live and work only among men, their exclusiveness is largely based on rejecting any contact with nature’s inborn imperative of interacting with females as romantic mates.

For the Catholic leadership there will be no stooping to being husband, or dad, naturally this is very attractive to men who adore the male and reject the female, men who vow to reject the female as lover and mate, and wife, the Vatican soldier is describing an organization that will always be a magnet to homosexuals.

The issue will always be to what level can the homosexuality be suppressed or controlled, the Commander knows that they will always be signing up to enter the Catholic leadership as priests.

priests vow to give up sex period, not just sex with a woman

so by your argument all male organizations are magnets for homosexuals?

fraternities?
Order of the Moose?
unions?

what is your problem

You think the male leadership of the Catholic church are husbands and boyfriends and dads, just like the men who are members of an all male fraternity or lodge?

The leadership of the Catholic church vows to never go home to a woman as a mate, to never know a woman, the only other male clubs that come close to that, are homosexual clubs, and I doubt if they require an oath, they would just be a little puzzled if one of their gay members had sex with a female.

I understand that, we all do, now read post 44 again, it is natural for homosexuals to be drawn to that culture.

The past commander at the Vatican has some thoughtful insights that you should try to understand.

No they didn’t.

There aren’t young men deciding to devote their entire life to being a Catholic priest and devoting their entire lives to the Catholic church, just on the off chance that at some time before they die of old age, some one will find out that they are also a homosexual.
