Exposed:Cornyn's record out of step with Texas conservatives
wash times ^ | 1/8/14

John Cornyn and many other Republican incumbents face significant primary challenges. They may have gotten away with symbolic conservatism for years, but today voters are looking for positive change in he Republican Party and for a more authentic and consistent conservatism, as exemplified by Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Ted Cruz in the Senate.

It is not that John Cornyn is not conservative. He is just not the right kind of conservative for the post-Bush Republican Party.

There was a time when it was enough to be pro-life and pro-gun. That standard has fallen by the wayside for something much closer to the vision of conservatism held by Edmund Burke, the father of Conservatism, or Barry Goldwater, Mr. Conservative.

John Cornyn may be conservative by the George W. Bush standard, but Judged by the Burke-Goldwater standard or even by comparison to Ronald Reagan, Cornyn’s conservatism fails in three vital areas.

Republican voters are now expecting real fiscal conservatism. They want to see budgets cut, entitlements reformed and the financial burden of government on the people substantially reduced. The past standard of just reducing the rate of government growth while growing the GDP won’t save us from the fiscal disaster which many see looming. They are demanding more.

Republican voters value civil liberties. They think that their party should be different from the Democrats and stand up for the rights of citizens to privacy, free speech and free association. They want government off the backs of the people as well as out of their pocketbooks. They still oppose abortion and support guns, but every Republican candidate passes that test. They want more substance.

Republican voters want party reform.

I’m just not hearing anything about anybody, no polling, no statements, just endless lying, plagiarizing Cornyn ads every hour.

Same here. It's sickening to hear and see these lying Cornpone ads, repeatedly...on radio, TV, websites. He's obviously sinking millions into these ads.

The disheartening thing, for me, is that I can't find ANY conservative group - like Senate Conservatives Fund - who's endorsing Stockman, or ANY of Corny's opponents. I read that in December Corny was polling at 50%, against Stockman.

I'd thought maybe it was because Cornball was running scared, from Stockman. Maybe Corny's got money to burn, so he figures...why not smear Stockman with it.

I am glad to hear good things about Stovall. I was wondering who to caste my vote for. Thanks.

TEA is going to wait until early voting (Feb 18) to unleash the red meat, I’ve decided. No use frittering away the base rage; contain it until the week before primary early-voting.

Cornyn is somehow expecting conservatives to believe it was him, not Cruz, who filibustered against zerocare and attacked zero at every turn. Maybe the general voters have short memories, but primary voters do NOT.

There is no reason this election shouldn’t pan out almost identically to Cruz v. Dewhurst.

"Cornyn is running nonstop ads touting his conservative credentials. Meanwhile, he stabs Ted Cruz in the back."

---------------------------------------------->

Noticed the nonstop ads, too. Hard to miss them they air so often.

What is the strategy when he is coming out now with nonstop ads that really don't say much beyond his contention that he is a conservative. Is he just trying to build up name recognition at this point.

Guess he thinks he is a good conservative....I don't really see it....I hear mush in his numerous ads.

Yea, I wish he would give examples of how tough he has been on all of obama’s lawlessness. /snark

Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention when he introduced those impeachment charges on obama and prison terms for Holder’s contempt of congress.

TEA or some conservative group needs to run ads mocking *Big John’s* big fibs about his conservative creds. There’s a lot of rich material to work from...all of his non-stop fib spots - and his TRUE voting and backstabbing record.

While he is all riled up, we should get Hannity to move to Texas and run for Cornyn seat./s

I know Hannity said he couldn't move right now - because of FOX TV program - but we need someone with righteous indignation like Hannity showed in response to the - vile speaking - Cuomo.

Cuomo's speech was outrageous in a very bad way.

With Cornyn I've always thought "another career politician" just riding the government until he retires.

"I just got a request from Cornyn for a donation. I considered using the pre paid envelope to ask to be removed from his mailing list. He sent a picture of himself wearing a cowboy hat and his ads have been “I am a tough guy” ads. Sorry Corney I don't like you."

------------------------------------------>

Add an inscription to the cowboy-hat-wearing Cornyn photo and have it read something like this:

"Ditter, screw you and everyone who thinks like you.

Sincerely,

Cornyn, one tough guy mofo conservative.

P.S. Send as much money as you can and send it quickly. 'preciate' it, mi amigo/amiga."

(Oh, did I say all of the above out loud? Heh, heh. That's right, I said it.)

"He lost his cover when Kay Bailey retired and was replaced by Cruz."

------------------->

Agree. Had not thought of this before, but I think you are 100% right.

I just remembered that during the last four years or so when KBH was in the Senate it seemed like if she voted no on a bill, Cornyn voted yes and visa versa. So we always ended up with essentially no representation in the Senate.

All people in TX know is the name Cornball; he’s safe on first.
