2 Friends Reach Across the Aisle on Immigration
The New York Times ^ | 21 Jan 2014 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR

Posted on 01/22/2014 10:55:51 AM PST by Theoria

The two women might at first seem more like political rivals than a reminder of the way things used to work in Washington.

Esther Olavarria, a Democrat, left Cuba as a child, worked as Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s top immigration lawyer and now holds a post in the White House. Rebecca Tallent, a Republican, left suburban Arizona and became Senator John McCain’s chief of staff, briefly advised Sarah Palin in 2008 and is now a top policy aide to Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio.

But if there is any way to unlock the immigration stalemate in Washington, colleagues say these two might find it.

A decade ago, the two women spent months in marathon back-room deal-making sessions as they repeatedly tried to bring lawmakers together on overhauls that would have given legal status to immigrants, secured the border and opened the country to more legal workers. In the process, they formed a friendship that transcended party affiliation. Related Coverage

“What they have is superior knowledge of the subject that exceeds any other staffers and any members,” said Mark Salter, a veteran of immigration battles who served as chief of staff to Mr. McCain. “That gives them an advantage.”

Or as one longtime immigration lobbyist put it: “We hear from everybody that Boehner wants to get to yes but he doesn’t know how. So he hired Becky to find out.”

Joy. How thoughtful. They should already be securing the border. There should be a simple bill if more security is needed. In the end, our politicians do not represent the commons.

'The goals, which are expected to be outlined in detail in the next week, are likely to include bolstered border security and enforcement inside the country, fast-track legalization for agricultural laborers, more visas for high-tech workers, and an opportunity for young immigrants who came to the country illegally as children to become American citizens.'

They are NOT "reaching across the aisles" they are both sitting on the same end of the boat, so much so that the boat is in danger of capsizing!

This boat has already not taken on so much water, it's about to go down for the last time!

Time to get a real voice of opposition here (note RINOs may not apply.)

If we make all the illegal into legals, what will we do with the next group of illegals?

Sounds like two LIBs divvying up the spoils.
Of course to the average LIB, a Left Leaning RINO is nothing more than a full blown CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING LIBERTARIAN.

Let these two stay together long enough and they will come up with the bright idea to

DRILL HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT SO THE WATER WILL LEAVE FASTER....

(Yawn) more Third World agit prop---trying to convince us the border-violators are a great accomplished bunch (avidly working to undermine US ntl security from their perches on Capitol Hill.)

If the invaders are productive, honest, taxpaying good guys, why are the homelands they're escaping from such fetid hellholes and cesspools?

============================================

INCONVENIENT FACTOID The Third World is pushing north at a furious pace---grabbing our tax dollars every which way they can in order to subsidize a separate Third World nation on US soil...subject only to their absurd laws and customs.

(a) The Senate amnesty bill hands blood-thirsty La Raza $100 million PER YEAR to conduct its hate-filled agenda.

(b) The Senate bill also absolves from prosecution all latinos holding US govt positions. Free-for-all graft but only if you're latino.

==============================================

Here's a litany of ways these violent, drug-addled border violators swindle struggling US taxpayers. Greedy Dreamers are turning to violence in their unmitigated greed for more and more US tax dollars:

<><> registered to vote under several identities,

<><> involved in voter fraud,

<><> using multiple identities to swindle the US govt,

<><> rap sheets here. In Mexico. Elsewhere.

<><> receiving welfare, food stamps, SSI, free medical care, Section 8 housing, UI, Workmen's comp under several identities?

<><> falsifying US govt documents to unlawfully receive, monthly SS checks, claiming "asylum?"

<><> sub-prime mortgage obtained w/ the help of US govt agencies?

<><> making false claims on IRS forms in order to get EITC refunds,

<><> faked driver's license

<><> faked passports

<><> wire-transferring money back to The Third World,

<><> registered to vote under several identities,

<><> membership in to radical America-hating organizations preaching violence against America and Americans.

<><><> using multiple identities to get tax dollars,

<><> swindling the US govt,

<><> OBTAINING FRAUDULENT SUB-PRIME MORTGAGES? MORTGAGES THAT DEVSTATED THE US ECONOMY? THAT US TAXPAYERS WERE FORCED TO BAILOUT?

<><> riding the lucrative US gravy train:

UI, SSI, Workmen's Comp,

TANF (temporary assistance to needy families),

WICS (food assistance),

subsidized Section 8 shelter,

ObamaPhone subsidies,

Utility Assistance subsidies,

$5000 a year EITC checks per identity,

hefty monthly "asylum" checks from SS ....

cashing multiple govt checks,

forming pressure groups lying in wait for foreign aid,

<><> hidden history of criminal wrongdoing,

<><> committing felonies against the US govt,

<><> hiding large amounts of assets from the courts. Taxpayer dollars collected under several identities. Hefty bundles of US cash wired offshore ---from stiffing US banks for fraudulent sub-prime mtges (which we taxpayers had to bailout).

Awwww, isn’t that just so heart-warming. The Old Gray Whore found a Republican they can get behind, because the Republican supports a non-conservative position. Who do they think they’re kidding?

Note how many liberals McCain assigned to undermine his own VP nominee. You would think that he wanted Obama to win.

I wonder what “aisle” the article is referring to? One is a communist, the other a liberal democrat who was chief of staff for an even more liberal democrat. Not much of a reach there.
