I think the pertinent question should be when will Texas adopt a different traditional means of execution to avoid the hassle and harassment of using lethal injection?

Currently, lethal injection is their only means, but it is becoming increasingly impractical. So it’s up to their legislature to decide on a different means to turn off vicious killers.

HUNTSVILLE, TX -- The execution of a Mexican national was put on hold Wednesday
as the U.S. Supreme Court considered appeals to keep 46-year-old Edgar Tamayo
from the Texas death chamber.

When the supreme court declines to uphold a treaty that in effect invalidates the treaty as being unenforceable as written. One can not violate a treaty with no standing. Texas was right!!!

You got that right.

But I like the firing squad myself. And after that fiasco in Ohio last week, they are seriously considering it as an alternative. Last guy executed by FS was in Idaho, I think, and it was HIS choice. (I’ll remember his name at 2 am. Will wake me from a dead sleep. Gary something.)

Japan, still till today, uses the noose.

China and Russia still use the bullet to the head. And then they send a bill to the family for the bullet.

Texas will prevail. Thank God for that.

Since this is a Federal Treaty sounds like Texas isn’t responsible for informing the Mexican embassy, the Federal Government is. The Clinton administration evidently fell down on the job. Texas fulfilled its obligations and should follow through with their laws.

BAZZINGA! Thank you, you have saved me much mental anguish.

That’s exactly who he was. They made a movie about him.

He did the crime, he admitted he did the crime, and he was determined to go out “like a man.”

He done did put the penal system in turmoil. But as I remember, at that time, the law was on his side. He had three or four choices on how was to be greased. He chose FS, and man did that cause an uproar. NO ONE had ever done that before.

I think the state changed all that after he was shot because they didn’t want a repeat of the situation.

"...all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the Supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby..." (U.S. Constitution, Article VI).

Was the treaty actually ratified? There are an awful lot of treaties out there that we are 'signatories' to that haven't been through the ratification process.

A proposed treaty is not a treaty until ratified.
