Bruce Springsteen has long been a champion of working-class heroes in his music, and now his son has actually become one. Twenty-year-old Sam Springsteen the youngest son of Bruce and Patti Scialfa just graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy and will join the fire department in his hometown of Colts Neck, New Jersey, according to the Asbury Park Press.
Proud mama Scialfa posted a photo on Instagram of her son in full firefighter regalia with the caption, "My youngest son, Sam, graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy tonight. #Proud #OurFamilyHero."
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Bruce became a vocal supporter of firefighters and other service people who were killed during the World Trade Center rescue efforts. He headlined the benefit concert "America: A Tribute to Heroes" on September 21, 2001, to raise money for 9/11 victims and their families and emphasizing the work of New York City firefighters and police officers.

Nice to know that the children of ultra liberals can become something useful.
That’s nice but surely this is a volunteer position, right? I thought Monmouth County was mostly volunteers.
Well, at least he’s trying to do something positive, not throwing paint balloons in strip clubs, like Bieber.
It cant be easy being the son of someone as famous as Bruce Springsteen. Look how James, Paul McCartney’s son is going on 36, but still seems to be searching for some satisfying identity achieved on his own.
Good for him and every other unrecognized citizen doing the best s/he can.
That is wonderful...I am sure he is a terrific young man.
I pray that he is not as politically stupid as his father, though.
So he can’t sing? Runs in the family.
OUTSTANDING post, ETL. Thanks. Congratulations to Sam Springsteen.
HOORAY Buck! HOORAY Rush!
Absolutely. Let's just hope his politics aren't anywhere near like his dopey father's.
This is nice. Most celebrity kids don’t do anything useful. As bad as Springsteen can be, he seems to have raised good kids.
“My youngest son, Sam, graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy tonight. #Proud #OurFamilyHero.”
I’ve noticed this kind of phrasing is more and more common today. Men were always bad about it, and now women are about equal in its use. Shouldn’t it actually be:
OUR youngest son, Sam, graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy tonight. #Proud #OurFamilyHero.”
Seems to show a focus on self rather than as a couple. Of course if you look at the divorce rate, I guess that IS the way most people think.
Congrats to the younger Springsteen and his parents.
It probably is but that doesn't discount the fact that he took the time to complete the training that would allow him to serve.
No, you’re right. But my point is that by not being a professional firefighter, he obviously has a career unrelated to this. His parents didn’t mention that.
I wonder... is he a UNION member first... or a firefighter?
Considering this marraige was the result of an affair she had with Bruce when he was married... yeah little narcissistic personality going on.
Geez Francis, lighten up. I’ve been happily married for 27 years and would have phrased it the exact same way. Sheeeesh.
Watch, in about a week or so Bruce’ll be writing first person hero songs about firefighting.
