GOP taps its top woman, mom of three, for Obama rebuttal
NBC ^ | 1/24/14 | Carrie Dann

Posted on 01/24/2014 2:55:58 AM PST by SoFloFreeper

After hearing from the [clown], Americans will hear a rebuttal from a woman unfamiliar to many of them.

Most of the national television audience hasn’t heard of Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the highest-ranking Republican woman in Washington, D.C. and the standard-bearer tasked with delivering the GOP response to President Barack Obama’s address. But Republicans hope that she’ll make an impression with her unapologetically conservative message, her journey from humble origins to the U.S. Capitol, and her family-friendly biography as a busy mother of three young children. All three of her kids were born while she was serving in Congress; her eldest, Cole, was diagnosed with Down syndrome shortly after his birth in 2007. The way she balances her life at home and her career in Washington is something that her supporters say will appeal to voters, and most importantly – women.

“As a woman, a mother, a pro-life person, someone who is raising a special needs child, she’s dealing with life on many fronts, just as most people are,” says Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List organization. “She’s an example of a very strong woman embracing timeless and traditional values.”

******************************************************************
She is indeed and, as such, is intent (along with the other members of Boehner’s leadership team) on taking action which will ultimately destroy the American Republic. In the end, it doesn’t matter whether they are obtuse or know that that will be the final result of their actions—the American Republic will be destroyed either way.

I agree with you. It is bad enough we have to suffer through day after day of various Obama quotes, but to bring out a person we never heard of to give a rebuttal is dumb. Most don’t even remember who gave the last one. Oh yeah. Rubio and he kept drinking that water (which is what everyone remembers). I hear she is an Amnesty lover so why bring her out as our representative which clearly she is not. I actually thought it was going to be Cruz.

Not pure enough? Being pro-illegal alien is a huge step back from “pure enough”. She is a disaster and does not deserve our support. And you must be joking on “good candidate”….when we have one then you will be able to complain about us not supporting YOUR “not completely pure candidate”.

Conservative Teen,
Seems like the liberals have infiltrated the thread. SoFloFreeper surprises me that he is an illegal alien lover but perhaps it is a brain fart. livius and Mercat I don’t know enough about but it appears that they need to have their illegal alien nanny and pool boys so they are loving this chick who loves illegal aliens like they do.

Say NO to Cathy McMorris Rodgers……a hyphen freak to boot. No wonder they are so in love with her.

No, I think you have to realize that there is no such thing as the perfect candidate. We act like a bunch of groupies here who want a hero we can swoon over instead of a competent politician, most (but not necessarily all) of whose positions we share or feel we can work with.

The end result is that year after year, all of the more conservative candidates are eliminated at the start, sometimes for nothing more than a rumor or a name somebody in the blogosphere or on talk radio has attached to them. Meanwhile, the Romneys and Christies of this world proceed calmly ahead because they know that the conservatives are out there looking for a knight in shining armor and they’ll never find one.

The fact they are bringing up her three kids as her important asset, makes me believe she is short on message. What does she stand for? Evidently, if Boehner likes her, she is strong on Amnesty. Amnesty is going to get us 40 million more on ObamaCare subsidies and increase the Democratic voting rolls to the point of no return.

What the Republican leadership calls conservative and what I call conservative are not the same. I doubt seriously if she is a conservative. What’s her voting record?

I have read she is on-board with amnesty but haven’t checked out her record. Having been put picked by Boehner for his “leadership team”, I would be very surprised to find that she consistently votes for limited government.

Maybe someone who has the time can see how she has voted on TARP, Porkulus, overturning the Sequester, voting to increase the deficit, voting to fund ObummerCare, voting to increase spending, etc., etc.

The “State of the Union” “campaign” speech/production itself is the bigger absurdity. Republican or Democrat Presidents have an 1 1/2 to ramble on and be as disingenuous as they want to be without fear of real time rebuttal. Just vomit for the baby birdy electorate to eat.

Those would be good things to do. Remember, she’s not a candidate, just somebody delivering a rebuttal to something that will no doubt be an irrational, self-pitying, venom-filled attack speech, since that’s all Barry’s SOTU speeches ever are.

She seems to be a friend of Boehner, which is not a good sign, but part of Boehner’s problem is not only his bad position on various things, but that he never defends himself against the Dems even on his good positions. He’s very weak and is not much of a leader, which unfortunately is something he needs to be. So maybe Rogers will do better at fighting back. I guess we’ll see.

Aside from that, though, the reason they picked her is because of Wendy Davis. Now I know we all think Wendy has no chance of anything now that she has been revealed to be a serial liar about her “touching life story” - heck, I never understood how she shot to national Democrat fame for her pro-abortion rant in Texas anyway - but lying doesn’t matter if a Dem does it. Look at Elizabeth Warren; in fact, look at Obama.

On the other hand, Rogers has a good story that is documentably real, and seems to have values that are diametrically opposed to those of Wendy Davis and actually, I suspect, more accurately reflect those of most women in the US. So I think we do have to consider the personal factor in this case.

I think extreme is letting them stay and suck up all our tax dollars on welfare, hospitals, schools and in prison (huge % of the prison population)

That is much more extreme than enforcing the law

I, for one, would like to see someone along the lines of Rush Limbaugh give the rebuttal.
Of course, the problem with Rush is he is a lightening rod and would alienate ‘them’.
We must be careful not to upset ‘them’.

“They” fail to take into account that BO alienates ME, having to look at BO, Boner, Soft spoken Reid, with the sweeps to what the reaction from Moochelle, Wee willie clintoon, hitlery and the rest of the clown parade.

I will NOT be watching as this fool has gotten to the point that anything he says is totally unbelievable.

I go back to the time when if someone was accepting an award for say heroism he didn’t have to refer to his NOTES in order to present the speech.

Of course then we realized some giving an ‘emotional’ address would not necessarily be flawless but we didn’t have hundreds of people parsing where the comma, period or pause should go.

Then again WJC rekindled all that ‘forced’ us to look up the meaning of is etc...

Heard a few exerpts from boner on Leno and it appears he is going to be running for pResident...GOOD LUCK WITH THAT...

I take that stand because he vehemently denied he wanted to run. Had heard the reasoning was ... He liked playing golf too much, like taking a drink of wine now and then, and liked to smoke on occasion???......

Perfectly good line for Leno would have been
“Whats the problem, would just be a continuation of what we have now?”...

ALL PRESIDENTS SHOULD GIVE THEIR “CHRISTMAS” DAY SPECIAL SPEECH BEFORE CHRISTMAS NOT 3+ WEEKS AFTER.

I’m of the opinion that hyperbole is not helpful in a discussion of what to do and how to do it. There are ways of dealing with illegals without stamping them as invaders and physically deporting anyone without papers. [See how easy it is to make a reply ‘raspy’?] I can actually guarantee you that whatever is done, it will not be the most extreme path. That may irk the hell out of you and me, but that is the reality of an issue when it becomes a political football. in point of fact illegals are invaders, but to use that term immediately evokes war and treachery.

The oligarchs know they hold the power over we the people and have removed our sovereignty 'for our own good' don'tchaknow. Yes, that is clearly treachery, and arguably treasonous since We The People were intended as sovereign rulers of the United States of America. By allowing the invasion of illegals then handing them all sorts of benefits thereby attracting even more invasion, the rulers in Washington have committed treason, IMHO.

When Newt ran for the republicant nomination last time, I studied his reform program for handling the illegals and establishing a new set of rules for controlling those who want to be in America. I liked his approach far more than the Boehner debacle coming down the pike.
