? I oppose illegal immigration and amnesty. I also recognize I won’t agree with every Republican on every issue.
Immigration is less important to me than being pro-life, for instance.
No, I think you have to realize that there is no such thing as the perfect candidate. We act like a bunch of groupies here who want a hero we can swoon over instead of a competent politician, most (but not necessarily all) of whose positions we share or feel we can work with.
The end result is that year after year, all of the more conservative candidates are eliminated at the start, sometimes for nothing more than a rumor or a name somebody in the blogosphere or on talk radio has attached to them. Meanwhile, the Romneys and Christies of this world proceed calmly ahead because they know that the conservatives are out there looking for a knight in shining armor and they’ll never find one.
The fact they are bringing up her three kids as her important asset, makes me believe she is short on message. What does she stand for? Evidently, if Boehner likes her, she is strong on Amnesty. Amnesty is going to get us 40 million more on ObamaCare subsidies and increase the Democratic voting rolls to the point of no return.
What the Republican leadership calls conservative and what I call conservative are not the same. I doubt seriously if she is a conservative. What’s her voting record?
He’s probably not the only good person who doesn’t dare to run because of the ad hominem attacks he will be subject to - not from the other party, but from his own side. I remember all the criticism of Cheney because one of his adult daughters was gay.
Great! Is this on television or on the Internet?
I don’t know a thing about her, and I think it would be excellent to look at her voting record. My comment was directed at the fact that because “somebody has heard” that she’s [insult of your choice, in this case, “illegal alien lover”], she’s dead meat before anybody even hears her speak.
There. Fixed it.
immigration “reform” is code for getting a new bunch of democrats into the country
so no, she’s not “pure” enough, she is on the same page as the destroyers
She has an American Conservative Union lifetime rating of 91% after eight years of service. Her rating in 2011 was 80%, in 2012 it was 84%.
“...the Romneys and Christies of this world proceed calmly ahead because they know that the conservatives are out there looking for a knight in shining armor and theyll never find one.”

Never find one? Ah, how about Ted Cruz?
Have you ever seen a male nominee for anything described in the press as “dad of three”? Is calling her a “mom” supposed to make me sympathetic to her or like her?
Her Heritage Action score for the latest session is 48%, whereas the average Republican is 65%. I could not figure out how to access her lifetime rating from Heritage.
“I dont know a thing about her, and I think it would be excellent to look at her voting record.”
I have read she is on-board with amnesty but haven’t checked out her record. Having been put picked by Boehner for his “leadership team”, I would be very surprised to find that she consistently votes for limited government.
Maybe someone who has the time can see how she has voted on TARP, Porkulus, overturning the Sequester, voting to increase the deficit, voting to fund ObummerCare, voting to increase spending, etc., etc.
Don’t worry, somebody will find something they don’t like about Cruz. I actually read something he said about immigration a few weeks ago that I thought might get him on the naughty list. But if it’s not that, it will be something else.
The “State of the Union” “campaign” speech/production itself is the bigger absurdity. Republican or Democrat Presidents have an 1 1/2 to ramble on and be as disingenuous as they want to be without fear of real time rebuttal. Just vomit for the baby birdy electorate to eat.
Those would be good things to do. Remember, she’s not a candidate, just somebody delivering a rebuttal to something that will no doubt be an irrational, self-pitying, venom-filled attack speech, since that’s all Barry’s SOTU speeches ever are.
She seems to be a friend of Boehner, which is not a good sign, but part of Boehner’s problem is not only his bad position on various things, but that he never defends himself against the Dems even on his good positions. He’s very weak and is not much of a leader, which unfortunately is something he needs to be. So maybe Rogers will do better at fighting back. I guess we’ll see.
Aside from that, though, the reason they picked her is because of Wendy Davis. Now I know we all think Wendy has no chance of anything now that she has been revealed to be a serial liar about her “touching life story” - heck, I never understood how she shot to national Democrat fame for her pro-abortion rant in Texas anyway - but lying doesn’t matter if a Dem does it. Look at Elizabeth Warren; in fact, look at Obama.
On the other hand, Rogers has a good story that is documentably real, and seems to have values that are diametrically opposed to those of Wendy Davis and actually, I suspect, more accurately reflect those of most women in the US. So I think we do have to consider the personal factor in this case.
They could/should have said “GOP taps its top woman, Alaskan mom of five, for Obama rebuttal”.
I am an admirer of Ted Cruz. One thing that bothered me was his attendance at the funeral of the late terrorist of South Africa.
bugged me too
