I just read on that other site that she was a Republican. Was she

Davis ran and was elected to the Fort Worth city council claiming to be a
republican but the seat is nonpartisan. She claims to have voted in the GOP
Primaries during that time. When she later ran for State Senator it was
as a democrat.

If she voted in a Republican primary, she was automatically a “Republican” for the following two-year period. And couldn’t even change parties until the next even-year primary
