LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Governor Rick Snyder is expected to participate in a panel in Washington discussing an economic case for passing immigration reform.
Snyder announced Thursday he wants to bring 50,000 immigrants to live and work in Detroit to help boost the population. He's looking to give 5,000 visas in the first year.
Michigan State's officie for international students says this will do positive things for the branding and recruitment of MSU students. Director Peter Briggs says he's proud of Snyder for becoming a leader in this national conversation.

God forbid Snyder do something rational — like cut taxes to ZERO for new and relocating businesses in Detroit.
What an idiot! And would these prospective new Detroiters be required to live in Detroit for the rest of their lives? Could they move after say, one year, one month???
And what makes him or anyone else think immigrants are going to revive a city that has been dying for decades for reasons that will not be easily reversed?
