Chuck Schumer Calls For The IRS To Stop The Tea Party
Investot's Business Daily ^ | January 25, 2014 | IBD EDITORIALS

Free Speech: The IRS scandal is not only not over but is getting worse, with a call by New York's senior senator for the already-politicized agency to use its power to tax to destroy the conservative grass-roots movement.

Arguing that the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United decision allowed Tea Party groups to "funnel millions of undisclosed dollars into campaigns with ads that distort the truth and attack government," Charles Schumer wants the IRS and other government agencies to take on the Tea Party through their administrative powers.

"It is clear that we will not pass anything legislatively as long as the House of Representatives is in Republican control, but there are many things that can be done administratively by the IRS and other government agencies," Schumer said in a speech before the leftist think tank Center for American Progress.

Calling for the IRS to use its powers to resume war on the First Amendment and free speech he doesn't like in the hopes of electing more Democrats, Schumer said: "We must redouble those efforts immediately."

Schumer was the author of the 2010 Disclose Act that failed to make it through Congress but would have required the disclosure of corporate donors to tax-exempt organizations, and membership and donor lists of the groups running "issue" ads.

"The bill was designed to embarrass companies," Schumer admitted, and its "deterrent effect should not be underestimated."

I say we should all call for roving bands of snipers to target Senator Schumer.

The ability of people to peacefully assemble to petition their government for redress of grievances is under attack as the IRS and Democratic senators continue to ask, "Are you now, or have you ever been, a conservative?"

Yeah, that about sizes it up...

“You’re right! That New York crowd has lost ALL sense of shame.”

Upchuck Schumer, the Uberfurer of “Jews for the Destruction of Israel!”

I think that is going to happen on its own. These people are acting with total disregard for half the country and trying to silence us (and most likely would love to do so in a permanent capacity). There is no balance in the political spectrum anymore as the Republicans are also actively fighting the TEA party just not with some much skyline.

Their minds are turning toward the election, and they realize the Tea Party is a big threat to their entrenched power. Unable to compete in the forum of ideas, they turn to the KGB/Gestapo - the IRS.

IIRC, it was Schumer that urged the IRS to do this three years ago, and led to the IRS abuses. This is what happens when things like the IRS vs TEA Party fiasco go unpunished.

I’m looking at you, Speaker Bonehead and Chairman Issa.

Over the last three years, Democratic senators repeatedly and publicly pressured the IRS to engage in the very activities that they are only now condemning today.

As the New York Times reported back in 2010 :

And the Republicans are also upset about an I.R.S. review requested by Senator Max Baucus, the Montana Democrat who leads the Finance Committee, into the political activities of tax-exempt groups.

From Max Baucus to Chuck Schumer to Jeanne Shaheen, key Senate Democrats publicly pressured the IRS to target groups that held differing political views and who, in their view, had the temerity to engage in the political process. The IRS listened to them and acted. And other Democrat senators like Kay Hagan and Mark Pryor said and did nothing about it.

As recently as last year, seven Democratic Senators sent a letter to the IRS “urging them to similarly investigate these outside political organizations.” According to a press release from one signer of the letter, Senator Schumer, the letter “was signed by Senators Charles E. Schumer, Michael Bennet, Sheldon Whitehouse, Jeff Merkley, Tom Udall, Jeanne Shaheen and Al Franken. It follows an earlier letter, sent to the IRS by the same of group of senators last month, that also urged the IRS to better enforce rules pertaining to 501(c)4 organizations.”

The Rats are boxing, while Chinless and Bonehead won’t even cover their faces. I’m convinced the GOPe is trying their best to lose, because they hate the TEA Party folks that much. They would much rather lose without us than win with us, it’s that bad.

It’s because they don’t want a smaller government, they want a larger government, preferably with themselves in charge. They’ll settle for larger government with Rats in charge. To them, either of the two would be preferable to a smaller government, even if the GOP would be in charge of it. The gravy train on which they ride is far more important than liberty for us.

’ And why wouldn’t he? Anyone see Mitch [Harry Reid’s no-ball bitch] McConnell leading the charge against this fascism?

The real problem here is not that Schumer is a scumbag fascist who would like to load us on to cattle cars. The problem is that the GOP doesn’t want to stop him. IMO, they are silently behind his efforts to destroy TEA party people. ‘

Yup.
