BALTIMORE (WJZ) A violent attack in whats considers one of the citys safest neighborhoods. Now police have made an arrest in the brutal robbery in Canton that left one man severely injured.
Investigators say they were able to identify the suspect after he was caught on surveillance camera using the victims credit card.
Mustafa Eraibi, 19, could spend the rest of his life behind bars, accused in a violent attack in Canton.
Now today, for the Canton area, you can sleep well. This guy is in custody, said Commissioner Anthony Batts, Baltimore City Police Department.
Baltimore Sun Editor John Fogg was walking from his car to his home when investigators say Eraibi approached him, indicating he had a gun. Fogg turned over his car keys, but was beaten over the head with a brick anyway.
It happened so close to home. It was kind of a shock to the community, said Natalie diFrancesco, General Manager of nearby restaurant The Chasseur.
Police say Eraibi has a lengthy criminal history.
nvestigators are now looking into whether Eraibi could be linked to any other crimes in the community. That includes another carjacking a week earlier, where a man was attacked with a flower pot.
If he remotely matches, well show photo lineups to see if we can charge him with other incidents, said Major Dennis Smith, Baltimore City Police Department.
Jon Fogg suffered six skull fractures and lost at least eight teeth. A fundraising website for his recovery has raised nearly $30,000.
My hope for him is that he just feels like theres a community thats supporting him, said Canton resident Caroline Mason.
On February 5, several Canton restaurants, including The Chasseur, will donate a portion of their proceeds to Foggs recovery.
We were like, What can we do to help? Anything he needs, were there, said diFrancesco.
In a blog about the incident, Fogg writes he has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
Mustafa Eraibi is facing multiple charges, including attempted first and second-degree murder.
In his blog, Fogg, a sports editor, writes of his attacker: He thought he was targeting one person, but what he failed to realize was that he was going after all of Baltimore. And Baltimore has always been known for defense.

Really? Is that why he's out and about bashing in people's skulls? "Justice" system fail.
A Muzzie that hates Americans on top of that. If they have a lengthy criminal history at 19 it might be best to go ahead and put them in the chair to save hundreds of victims inthe future.i’d like to think guys like that would change but my experience says its about a 1 in 100 chance...
Sounds like he needs to learn about defense. But since it’s Baltimore only the criminals and the guys that put up the yellow tape and outline your body in chalk get to have guns
Mustafa? Love how so many of these violent criminals have proper Muslim (the “religion of peace”) names!
Mustafa Eraibi, 19, could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Could but wont, the new DOJ law says if you were profiled before the incident especially being muslim one of the protected classes when it comes to any crime, it is the arresting officer that is the criminal and not the innocent victim who perpetrated the crime. so there!
A friend of mine lives near where the attack occurred. He has noticed that criminal activity in the area seems on the upswing.
Probably a cabinet position waiting for him in the current Admin...."When they bring a credit card to the fight, we bring a brick and take the credit card away".....
I have filed this report under HATE CRIMES.
I know that goes against the Obama Administration and the Mains Stream Press’s guidelines but....
7 head fractures, 8 teeth knocked out, both hands broken, AFTER turning over the keys?
Looks like the game of “Knockout” is escalating. Less to do with Muslims than Color in my opinion.

Ban assault bricks.
Interesting statement. I wonder if the next victim of a violent crime in Canton, will hire a lawyer to hold Commissioner Batts responsible for his patently false statement. How can anyone in Maryland "sleep well" in a state that does every thing it can to aid and abet the criminals by disarming the citizenry.
Was that his given name???? Was it perhaps Barry before the change???
I assume the effing FBI is going to swoop in and interview all the people he’s known for the last 20 years to make sure this isn’t a hate crime. You know, like they did with Zimmerman... It’s gonna happen, right?
Life long Baltimorean here, Canton has never been one of Baltimore’s safest neighborhoods. It is an oasis on the water,
Imagine crime in an area in which thousands of 20-30s barhop in dozens of bars within walking distance of some of Baltimore’s toughest neighbords - the area around Johns Hopkins Hospital/Patterson park.
Petty crime abounds. This kind of crime is obviously an aberration, hence all the attention paid to it.
He doesn’t pay attention to the statistics of crime in his own city, apparently. For him to make such a statement is almost spitting in the face of future victims, and there will be plenty.
“Police say Eraibi has a lengthy criminal history.”
And yet he was out walking around free. This seems to be a common theme that can only be addressed by more gun control laws.
Eraibi was charged with robbery and assault in at least two previous cases but he was not prosecuted. When 11 News about this, the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office did not provide an explanation.
Yeah, why should the State Attorney's be expected to answer a question in regards why this thug was out and about? Read more: Source
