EXCLUSIVE: Politico Tries to Manipulate Hannity Comment on Michael Savage
Breitbart ^ | 1/26/14 | Breitbart News

Posted on 01/26/2014 10:50:59 PM PST by Nachum

On Friday, Politico was set to release a puff piece on Michael Savage, the polarizing host tapped by Cumulus to replace iconic talker Sean Hannity on its affiliates. In the process of putting together that puff piece, Politico contacted Hannity for comment. After attempting to manipulate Hannity’s comments repeatedly, Hannity withdrew them. Now, they appear exclusively at Breitbart News.

Hannity has moved to Premiere Radio Networks, a division of Clear Channel, shifting stations in many markets. As reported by Breitbart News last year, Hannity parted ways with Cumulus last year to move to Premiere, retaining his major markets and reportedly ripping the Dickeys as “the single worst operators in the history of radio.” The Dickey brothers, who own Cumulus, had criticized Rush Limbaugh, among others, stating that they were too controversial. Hiring Savage is unlikely to quell controversy, given Savage’s history of boycotts: he was thrown off of MSNBC after suggesting a caller was a “sodomite” who should “get AIDS and die”; he was boycotted after suggesting that autism was overdiagnosed and that a child with autism was “a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out.”

Savage has long targeted Hannity, deriding him despite trailing significantly in audience and following; as of January 2014, according to Talkers magazine, Hannity was the second-rated host in the country, with 13.25+ million listeners per week. Savage trails far behind at 3.50 million. Savage’s jealousy for Hannity is well-known in the industry. In late December, Savage said that Hannity “works from Republican Party talking points. He says he doesn’t any more, but he does. I don’t. You can’t drone on about the Bill of Rights.”

Did you hear that he could not gain access to Great Britain? Did you hear that he grew up in NYC? Did you hear he has a PhD? Did you hear he lives in San Francisco and eats Italian? Did you hear he is trying to boast his “INTERNET” ratings by trying to provoke Rush and Hannity?

if you have, you will not need to listen to him for the next 36 months.

I did hear a mellow Savage say, “Hannity’s a nice guy but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about...his TV show’s OK but his radio show is boring”. In Boston neither host is heard
other than from nearby cities (WRKO having replaced Savage with Jim Bohannon—they were tape delaying Savage)

A big talk radio realignment happened at the start of the new year with Savage going to 3-6 pm, prog talk stations changing to conservative talk or Spanish lang in LA, SF, and NY; Cumulus got rid of Huckabee and put Dennis Miller in 12-3 pm ET slot, Rush and Hannity to WOR in NY while WABC went local up till 3 pm with Savage etc

I think Savage has nicknames for other hosts—as far as I know, The Golfer= Rush?; Harvey Wallbanger= Hannity;
The Leprechaun= Bill O’Reilly,or is that one for Hannity?
BOR went off radio (other than commentaries I think) as it is.

I know he has his fans but I have joked a station could run a loop of him saying, “Borders, language, culture, buy my new book, I’ll be right back,” and people won’t know the difference :) Ah, I kid.

Hannity is angry at Savage because he lost his WMAL Washington DC slot to him. I cannot listen to Hannity anymore because he repeats himself over and over.

Savage is an unlistenable broken record braggart.

“I made up that saying! I made up that word! That was my idea! I don’t care if all the other talk radio hosts steal my ideas...that’s all...now, onto meatball recipes.”

Repeat for hours.

They are both lame. There are dozens of 2nd tier hosts who are far superior to both of them. Both are coasting on name recognition.

Here in Detroit, WJR (3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) dropped Hannity the first of the year and replaced him with Savage. Savage has been bragging about taking over the big city spots and constantly bad mouthing as he's always done.

What Savage obviously doesn't know is that about a week after WJR dropped him, rival network 1400 a.m. as well as an FM station picked him up in the same time slot, but with an extra hour......LOL!

I don't know all the contractual ins and outs but WJR's move wasn't related to Hannity's popularity. In terms of listenership, WJR is going to regret losing him........

Yup.

Got wore out on Savage years ago.

Yea, virtually every day.....I think what keeps him mad is the fact that neither Hannity nor Rush give the nut the attention he is desperately craving.

I glad to see Hannity finally speak up about him.....And it will probably be the last time too. Which will tick Savage off even more.....LOL!

I can a least listen to Savage once and while if there is nothing else. Hannity gets boring after about 2 minutes. Hannity’s show is designed for attention deficit women who have no idea how government works.

I really like Savage and Levin and Hannity. They all have their own unique style. Their fighting, both subtle and outright, makes me really uncomfortable, though, while listening. It’s a side of them I don’t care for, and I wish they’d keep it off the airwaves. It’s beneath all three.

>> I cannot listen to Hannity anymore because he repeats himself over and over. <<

I can’t listen to Hannity most of the time, because his station in the DC-NoVA-MD area (WWRC, 1260 AM) has a really horrible signal.

If you did get it and listened eight months later you would hear the same show.

And the problem with that is _____ ?

I mean like, I can listen to any Beethoven symphony or any Back fugue over and over again, for years and years. And they just get better every time!

I listen to these shows to learn. Hannity, Rush, and others are told they have the most informed listeners. Hannity spread himself to thin and did not put enough time into his show prep. Doing the same show day after day is worthless.

I hope the station changes for both Rush and Hannity work out.

It’s funny how they openly complain about each other — I’m thinking about Savage and Levin.

Hannity is angry at Savage because he lost his WMAL Washington DC slot to him

That statement is not true. Hannity’s contract with Cumulus expired and he dumped them for Premier, owned by Clear Channel . WMAL is owned by Cumulus and since no contract, no Hannity. Savage is under contract with Cumulus thus he was inserted in the time slot.

The same thing happened here in Detroit; Hannity was on WJR, which is also owned by Cumulus, in the 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. time slot so Savage was inserted in his place.

Hannity was immediately picked up by both WDTK AM 1400 and WDTK FM 92.7 with a third hour instead of the two with WJR. This was a major bonus for Hannity in Detroit.

While Savage can brag about replacing Hannity in major markets, the reality is that he’s still the second string quarterback……
