Fairfax County Public Schools has discovered the administration mistakenly hired seven employees who were convicted felons, including a high school teacher who was once part of an international drug ring.
School officials uncovered the mistake during a comprehensive search of hiring records that began in 2012 after a Madison High School special education teacher inquired if her previous conviction for helping to smuggle heroin into the United States would stall her promotion.
That teacher, Deilia Butler, had joined Fairfax schools in 2006. She had admitted truthfully that she was a convicted felon on her paper application. So did the other six employees, school officials said.
Despite the fact that Virginia law prohibits school divisions from hiring felons, the employees were hired anyway.
Human error played a part in these hirings and we deeply regret this mistake, superintendent Karen Garza said in a statement.
None of the seven employees remain in their former positions, school officials said. Four were placed on administrative leave, including Butler. The three others left the school system.

That is just fine with the Teachers Union. There will be hell to pay for any effort to remove the Convicts.
Liberals break the law, then when there’s pushback they sheepishly admit mistakes were made and sweep it under the rug.
...she'd be one who would call police to report a bad drug deal......and teacher unions wonder why people wanna run them out of town...way to go teacher union
Just heroin smuggling “for the children”.
It all makes sense. Let the blacks kill each other, and those that survive get to make some money but will end up in prison. Thus fueling the prison-industrial complex. No wonder why politicians won’t secure the border. Securing the border would stop 90% of drug trafficking.
Who says there aint no jobs to be had. Looks like the Fairfax Reformed Felons School System has plenty of openings but only honest felons need apply and most likely were hired by kinfolks.
Makes you wonder where the Fairfax line in the sand is.
I don't know. I think liberals are lawless, and the stupid party is too stupid and cowardly to push back, and the slime sucking scum bag liberals are not sheepish about anything, and don't admit any mistakes. Look at that bitch who said what difference at this point does it make. They are becoming more brazen all the time, and it can, and will get worse. I wish I could be more positive than that, but this is just my opinion. Others may see things differently, but this is the way I see it.
I really don’t mind felons teaching as long as they are off parole and the crimes weren’t about sex or violence. I say this because, I want effective teaching. I don’t really care what they did “before” and we have criminalized a lot of things, e.g. pour antifreeze down your drain in California is a felony. When I grew up, pouring antifreeze down the drain was the accepted way of disposing of antifreeze.

Well at least you would have responsible experienced people running the drug rings in the school rather than dangerously inexperienced amateurs. In the urban ghetto .... go with the pro!

I thought criminal background checks interfered with diversity?
..."way to go"..now do I get extra pay for my encouragement?
Hiring felons may have been the only way to meet their diversity goals.
