At gun shop, no hint of what ‘polite’ customer would do weeks later at Columbia mall

Darion Aguilar, neatly clad in jeans and a dress shirt, strolled into a Rockville gun store Dec. 10 with a wad of cash and lots of questions. He wanted a weapon for home defense, he told the owners, who remember him as upbeat and courteous. He didn’t know much about firearms and asked for their help in picking one out.

“His whole demeanor was, he smiled, he was polite, he wasn’t aggressive,” said Cory Brown, a proprietor of United Gun Shop. Aguilar, then 18, told Brown and co-owner Dan Millen that he had been researching Mossberg shotguns. Could they show him a Mossberg?

So they got out a basic 500 model — “an entry-level” gun, Brown said — a pump-action 12-gauge that is easy for a novice to fire accurately in close quarters.

Later, after authorities identified Aguilar as the shooter, police seized the journal. In addition to the references to suicide, it contains notes expressing hatred of certain groups, according to the officials, who did not elaborate in detail.

What do we know about the victims.

As noted by a commenter to the article:

In a story on the gunshop that sold the shotgun, they quote the gunshop owner saying:
“ he didn’t ask about [assault] rifles; he didn’t ask about handguns. He said he had a limited budget and didn’t need any of that tactical stuff.” — Rockville Gunshop Owner

Notice the modifying term “assault” was added by the Post even though the gun shop owner said only “rifles.”

Note the insertion of the word “assault” by the authors...

“His whole context was home defense,” Brown said. “He was new to this. He wanted something not too crazy — he didn’t ask about [assault] rifles

I’ve sold a lot of guns over the years. I see no way they should have knows or could have knows that this kid was a nut case. On the other side of the coin his mother did know and apparently did nothing. Way to go Mom.

Gun lock? I’m pretty sure most new firearms come with an included lock either in the box or, on some pistols, as part of the pistol. Training is mostly confined to CCW applicants in some states, not long gun sales.

“His whole demeanor was, he smiled, he was polite, he wasn’t aggressive,”

Like most psychos trying to manipulate people, in my unfortunately vast experience with them. The "charm offensive."

As Howard County police continue to investigate the shootings, they said the reason for the attack remains a mystery. They said they have found no connection between Aguilar and his victims, Brianna Benlolo, 21, and Tyler Johnson, 25, who worked in Zumiez, a store for skateboarders, snowboarders and surfers on the Maryland mall’s second level.

Two law enforcement officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said “...Aguilar kept a journal in which he described suicidal thoughts. When the young man’s mother reported him missing Saturday, they said, a police detective was sent to the home. He began reading the journal, but Aguilar’s mother demanded he stop.

Later, after authorities identified Aguilar as the shooter, police seized the journal. In addition to the references to suicide, it contains notes expressing hatred of certain groups, according to the officials, who did not elaborate in detail....”

*********************************************************
So, “Howard County police...said the reason for the attack remains a mystery.”

And “...Aguilar kept a journal...in which...contains notes expressing hatred of certain groups, according to the officials, who did not elaborate in detail....”

Since Howard County Maryland is supremely “politically correct” and its police force follows that PC bent, it may be a long time OR NEVER before officials CONNECT THOSE DOTS. And they may never release the contents of that journal since it could well paint a picture they do not wish to have seen.

My opinion is that there is a strong possibility that this may well be another instance of the next step up from the “knock out game”.

We can be sure he wasn’t a conservative-Republican-rightwing-TEA Party type or every page of that journal would be up on the Howard County PD’s Facebook page and ABCCBSMSNBCCNN would be talking about it all day every day for a week.

The media censors again!

Let’s see if the dude is HispBlack and he “hates certain groups.” It’s probably Whites.

But the media will never say “expressing hatred of Whites.”

NEVER!

Our media propagandists are truly pathetic.

Yeah - he is Hispanic and definitely black. The girl and her boyfriend were white and that’s why there is no mention of them or pictures.

The girl was stupid to go out with him and then when she left his crazy ass behind that was too much for him. When a white girl goes out with a non white guy the chances something bad and violent happen to her or her close friends and family go up dramatically I hate to say.
