Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) Senate seat is in trouble. Polling shows that if Sen. McConnell is to make it through the Republican primary, he could very well lose to the Democratic challenger. Fortunately, there is a very strong candidate seeking the Republican nomination, and over the last several months he has significantly closed the gap in the polls while gaining the endorsement of many conservative institutions. On radio this morning, Matt Bevin joined Glenn to discuss the progress of his campaign and why he believes the 2014 election is so important.

“I am really thrilled to have on with us now Matt Bevin. He is running for U.S. Senate against Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. Freedom Works now has officially enforced him. We are thrilled,” Glenn said. “We’ve had him on how many times now? Two times, three times, and every time we’ve had him on, we feel good about him. We don’t trust any politician. Matt, thank goodness, at this point doesn’t have enough politician in him yet to feel slippery.”

So what made the veteran, entrepreneur, and father of nine decide to go to Washington?

“I’ve been asked a number of times and it’s an important point of clarification. I don’t mean to sound flip in saying this, but it’s less a function of what I want to do and more a function of what I’m willing to do,” Matt said. “The reason I’m willing to do this is I look at the fiscal path we’re on as a nation… and I realize it is so remarkably unsustainable…

The business as usual spending in Washington is unsustainable and all that the Uniparty like McConnell, Reid, Pelosi, Boehner, Obama etc. etc. etc. offer us are band aids like the Ryan-Murray budget deal with military pension cuts and higher taxes.

We will only get more of that game as the train heads for the fiscal cliff with Mitch McConnell’s re-election.

What is needed is a fundamental transformation of the culture of corruption which is so pervasive in DC.

It has gone from house banking and house postal scandals to intern sex in the white house to real banking bailouts and false trillion dollar stimuli, and a completely politicized IRS, NSA and Justice Dept.

There is no law.

Down the road from me is a ranch with some goats. There's an old, old guard dog. There's also a young dog there sometimes. When I go by and the young dog is not out, the old dog looks up from his nap, sometimes, and merely watches me go by. If the younger dog is there as well, the old dog will jump up, barking ferociously, and charge to the fenceline.

That old dog is McCain, Hatch, Cornyn, McConnell, Graham, Lamar! - content to sleep out their days as long as the food dish is filled. But when a young dog shows up - Bevin, Bright, Wolf, Carr, McDaniel - and the job is at risk the old dog makes a great show of how valuable he is.

Don't fall for it

Don't fall for it

Sadly, it's something the American people continue to do -- fall for failure.

People in KY would rather lose with Mitch than win with Bevin.
