SHOWDOWN: BOEHNER TO REVEAL IMMIGRATION 'PRINCIPLES,' CONSERVATIVES READY TO RUMBLE
Breitbart ^ | 1/29/14 | MATTHEW BOYLE & JONATHAN STRONG

Posted on 01/30/2014 6:55:38 AM PST by jimbo123

This could get ugly.

Thursday at 4:30pm in Cambridge, Maryland, Speaker John Boehner will unveil an outline of the party's immigration stance to rank-and-file members that includes “legal status” for millions of illegal immigrants.

Boehner hand-selected members to help lead the discussion, including California Rep. Jeff Denham, the first Republican to endorse the House Democrats' immigration bill.

But as much as Boehner is dreaming of a big, bipartisan immigration deal – senior GOP officials say they are surprised just how much the Ohio Republican is “leaning in” on the issue – top immigration hawks are themselves ready to raise hell.

“We’re going to have a very heavy discussion on illegal immigration,” Rep. Dana Rohrabacher told Breitbart News, adding that Boehner's critics have organized a plan to “speak as aggressively and loudly and articulately as we can in opposing this nonsense of amnesty for 10-20 million illegals which would cause great harm to the country and destroy the Republican Party.”

The meeting is momentous enough that Senator Jeff Sessions flouted congressional protocol, hand-delivering anti-amnesty talking points to members ahead of the closed-door session.

Boehner has been carefully working on the issue with the help of a new top immigration aide, Rebecca Tallent, who was formerly Senator John McCain's top amnesty lieutenant.

Mickey Kaus exposes Paul Ryan's amnesty fraud:

"This is the best scam they can come up with?"

"...So how were Boehner & Co going to sell “legal status first” plan as an “enforcement first plan”?

Now we know: By pretending that legal status isn’t legal status. That’s something that not even the famously deceptive Senate Gang of 8 tried.

According to amnesty champion Paul Ryan, illegal immigrants would at first get “probationary status” along with a “work permit.” They could come ‘out of the shadows’ and live and work here. Then if measures are taken so the “border is secured” they’d get a “regular work permit.”

The idea, WaPo‘s Greg Sargent says, seems to be that “Undocumenteds will be allowed to work on probation while the border is being secured, but will not enjoy legal status.”  Why not? Apparently because their “probationary” permits might not be permanent — the immigrants “could be kicked off of probationary status if certain security benchmarks aren’t met.”

This is a joke.

a) Anything that allows formerly illegal immigrants to “be able to be lawfully here,” as Goodlatte put it, is legal status, even if it’s “probationary”legal status.  The Ryan plan gives this legal status...

b) Nobody is going to re-illegalize previously legalized illegals if border security goals aren’t met, because it would be absurdly cruel (as Democrats, among others, will argue) to punish them just because the government didn’t, for example, implement an E-Verify system fast enough. Even if they lost probationary their work permits they would almost certainly not be deported. …

There is...it's called enforce existing laws.

I live in Texas, too.

How about we put teeth in the E-Verify Law.. say $15,000 per illegal working at a business plus a mandatory 2yrs in jail, then wait for the sel-deportation to start

Yup, it’s that easy. Cut off the money (Welfare too!) and make it cost prohibitive to “employ” them and they will have no choice but to go home.

We don’t have to deport them, we don’t have to jail them.

We just need to jail a few that knowingly employ them to get the message out.

Besides the fact that by legalizing these people we are basically saying “Yeah, it’s OK to break the law”, does Boehner realize that he will electorally gut the GOP?

The new citizens will not vote GOP. They are instant Dem voters.

They really don’t care. Progressive Republicans identify more closely with Dems than conservatives.

Illegals are doing the work that millions of teenagers would take, those same teens that the democrats cry about not having part time jobs anymore. They are also taking the jobs of millions of adult workers in both skilled and unskilled areas. I’ve seen long lines of applicants at pizza joints, most of them teens and young adults along with about half hispanics. Who do you see working there after the hiring is done? Why it is the hispanic/illegal who can barely speak english. It’s not just at pizza or fast food outlets, it is also a long time thing in construction trades and small to large manufacturers. Enough of the myth that these are jobs americans won’t do; a lot of that is made up bullshit.

The illegals also suck our tax funded support systems dry, increase crime rates, get front of the line consideration for scholarships, training programs, housing and other support opportunities OVER american citizens who need the help.

If they want a program, allow only single, without children illegals who agree to be spayed or neutered and never marry at all. Deportation is immediate if they break any rule. See how many would agree to those terms.

The easier track is to ENFORCE THE F’N IMMIGRATION LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS.

Here’s my immigration principle: total control of access to this county...borders, coasts, visas, air, lunar rover, time machine.

When you got those locked down, then immigration won’t be a problem.

Sorry if my words were taken wrong....I was teasing, not flaming....

...You are a much loved Freeper....but I really don't know why you have adopted this position?

It seems incongruous to me.

Rule of law is rule of law.

If these illegals get the welcome mat.....soon, very soon, they will organize/unionize..

..and then who will do the work for the pay... that they're getting now

Will we need to legalize more Mexicans?......Chinese?

All of what you say is true, but I still stand by my assertion that if 55,000,000 children had not been aborted, we would not even be having this conversation.

Tho only thing that should be discussed other than enforcing existing law and protecting our borders is the deportation of illegal-immigrant law breakers.

That may be true and the death of so many is real but it is today a “what-if” and our current disaster is real-life and happening.

I could also ask the question “what if obama’s mother had chosen abortion and come to the same possible outcome”

McConnell and Cornyn are neither supporting Jeff Sessions or attacking Boehner.

What kind of leadership is this?
