A Formula for Happiness
NYT Sunday Review ^ | December 2013 | Arthur Brooks

Posted on 01/31/2014 9:32:32 AM PST by Baynative

Beneath these averages are some demographic differences. For many years, researchers found that women were happier than men, although recent studies contend that the gap has narrowed or may even have been reversed. Political junkies might be interested to learn that conservative women are particularly blissful: about 40 percent say they are very happy. That makes them slightly happier than conservative men and significantly happier than liberal women. The unhappiest of all are liberal men; only about a fifth consider themselves very happy.

There's a lot more to the article. But, this jumped out at me because I live in an area where the majority of the population is very liberal and I've often remarked that people just don't seem happy around here, especially the aging hippie types.

Freedom makes me happy.
I’m not very happy right now.

In my faith in the Lord I have found peace and contentment. I guess that makes me happy.

Not a surprise I’m also a conservative.

I think a lot of happiness ended when women were forced into the workforce away from their children to satisfy the greed of the elitetists when it dawned on them that they could charge double for their products or services if they could get both parents to work.

Happiness is fleeting, temporary and worldly. Love and faith in or Lord is a lasting joy even during trying times we can remain joyous in our Lord.

Like I said, it's blatantly obvious up here in the Pacific North West. There is something uncomfortably odd about the liberals I encounter that makes them seem constantly mad, or upset. Maybe they're just annoyed with the rest of us.

It’s been my experience liberals are the most miserable people on earth. They’re always “offended,” or they’re ranting and raving about something.

The most miserable people I have ever met are liberal women. I have always attributed that to the fact they are trying to live in a very unnatural world of their own making. They have convinced themselves they don’t need husbands (or men in general), children or family in their lives, that “friends” very often including a large cadre of homosexuals, can make up for all of that. The older they get the lonelier they get and the more miserable they get.

My guess liberal men are miserable because they are stuck with liberal women.

Smile more.

Read Joel Osteen’s book, “Every Day a Friday”; read it slowly.

Use a pen when reading it.

Order used on Amazon cheap.

It really is a goodie.

“In my faith in the Lord I have found peace and contentment. I guess that makes me happy”

Yes, I to am joyful, but I am going through a low point in my life (circumstances) That causes a need to be reminded of Jesus.

Thank You.

Of course, there is a correlation between being unhappy and being a leftist. An unhappy person is looking for some outside force or entity to come to their rescue. And they simultaneously act (vote) as to create misery, misfortune and hardship that is consonant with their own dark view of life.

Now, the Progressives in WA are upset with Obama as well with conservatives because Obama takes them for granted.

Mi<"Progressives in WA are upset with Obama as well with conservatives because Obama takes them for granted"

I live in Jefferson County where elections are controlled completely by liberals. I think both Gregoire and Obama carried the county with about 78%.

In 2008 when the first stimulus money was being handed out Washington State had $33MILLION to spread around for schools, at risk kids and after school rec programs. My county got ...ZERO after working like hell for the progressives. What they couldn't understand was why Gregoire spent the money to influence voters in swing districts rather than "thanking" them.

Gregoire ended her term without a friend in the world. She had betrayed them all to please Obama by supporting the coal terminals, hoping to get an appointment in DC. First it was the EPA, but people in the EPA didn’t want her, then she thought she might get the dept of the interior, finally she was down to ambassador to Canada and she didn’t even get that.

I forgot the NLRB, which was her very first goal. Those recess appointments turned out to be more permanent than anyone thought, though.
