If it wasn’t for the oh-so-recent context that renders this acidly ironic, MSNBC’s latest foray into idiocy would hardly be worth mentioning. Coming just a few weeks after its own hosts mocked Mitt Romney’s family and Republicans over a family picture that showed Romney proudly holding his adopted African-American granddaughter — which eventually produced a tearful apology from Melissa Harris-Perry — the network’s official Twitter feed offered up this bon mot about a cereal ad that has nothing to do with politics at all

This is really getting weird with these guys. Nobody I know and nobody in my trailer park gave the slightest s**t over the biracial Cheerios, so, is this completely made up? Libs now have to pretend that conservatives are getting upset over something when they couldn’t care less?

The bi-racial nature of it doesn’t bother me 1/10th as much as the contrived idea of it for a commercial. Who cares? And since nobody does, why do it in the first place?

What kind of a statement is this? What pray tell is going to be benefited by it? What part of society needs to change, meaning this message is necessary?

It’s a message that is so far behind the times that it’s just pathetic to be pulling this routine in 2014.

Y’know, I think this is analogous to a DOS (denial of service) attack.

You busy the other side with a made up something in order to divert them from getting their message out.

Since the other side is shameless and feels no shame even if exposed as playground-level and factually incorrect, in other words, there is no cost to this kind of goofery, it’s becoming more and more common. We shouldn’t be surprised, but this is a new level of clumsiness.

One of the things I enjoy in life is breakfast cereal. Not things like shredded wheat, but the bad ones. Cocoa Puffs. Sugar Smacks. Lucky Charms. Things like that.

Some Freepers are horrified that I eat them (I have actually been lectured here!) but I don't care.

I am the most ferocious breakfast cereal eater, and my Jethro Bowl is a prized utensil.

But after General Mills came out with this ad campaign during "Gay Pride Month" last year, I am not eating any more of their cereals:

I know what you mean. I will tell you though, I’ve seen them pull this kind of nonsense for so long it seems commonplace to me.

We had a great guy out here in California. He was a very level headed Conservative. He ran for Senator.

They found out he once had drinks at a strip joint. They blew this out into a major scandal, and it really hurt the electability of our candidate. They pulled this a short time before the election and there wasn’t time for it to sink in and be dismissed by the public.

I know. It nauseated me. Makes me pretty angry, too.

My wife doesn’t feel the same way I do about these things, and she was puzzled when I told her I didn’t want to buy more General Mills products. She knew how much I enjoyed eating those cereals, but...to her credit, she respected my wishes and doesn’t buy them for me.

Herschensohn used to literally destroy press in those debates. It was embarrassing. I don’t think Press ever grasped how destroyed he was, and the Democrat party never grasped it either.

He lingered on in various roles, some of them rather high profile. I think they finally figured it out. Press was an ignorant SOB.

Bruce was the real deal IMO. Our state and nation would have been better off for his involvement in our decision making.

He wasn’t just smart. He could convert his knowledge into meaningful sound-bytes, that would have you thinking, “Man, I believe that too, but I never quite thought of it that way before.”
