Knox's fury after being found GUILTY AGAIN

Amanda Knox told Italian authorities that 'they'll have to catch me and pull me back kicking and screaming' following her guilty verdict for the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.

Her defiance raises the spectre of a long drawn-out extradition battle after the decision of judges in Florence to overrule her previous acquittal and sentence her to 28 years and six months in prison.

OK. She’s guilty because he said so and the Italian court says she did it. Makes sense to me, as long as I suspend disbelief about the vaunted Italian legal system. Ours used to be the best, but that’s gone downhill quite a bit, just in the past half-century, so I can’t sit here and throw too many brickbats at them.

But if Holder and his people extradite her, I’ll be unhappy. You should be too, but you won’t be. Anything to get her in the slammer, so any port in a storm, as they say. A lot of FReepers thought it was swell when Janet Reno sent armed jack-boots to rip Elian Gonzales from his family’s arms in Miami to send him back to Hell, too. (Yes, they were family too.)

In Amanda Knox’s written witness statement, she explicitly states that she’s making a spontaneous declaration:

Amanda Knox: “I wish to relate spontaneously what happened because these events have deeply bothered me and I am really afraid of Patrick, the African boy who owns the pub called “Le Chic” located in Via Alessi where I work periodically.

False Claim 4: They banged her on the back of the head.

No they didn’t.

All the numerous witnesses who were actually present when Amanda Knox was questioned, including her interpreter, testified under oath at trial in 2009 that she wasn’t hit. She has never identified anyone who hit her and on several occasions confirmed that she was treated well.

Even one of Amanda Knox’s lawyers, Luciano Ghirga, confirmed that Amanda Knox had not been hit: “There were pressures from the police but we never said she was hit.” He never ever lodged a complaint.

False Claim 7: Amanda Knox had gone 8 hours without any food or drink.

No she hadn’t.

Reported by Richard Owen in The Times, 1 March 2009

Ms Napoleoni told the court that while she was at the police station Ms Knox had been ‘treated very well. She was given water, camomile tea and breakfast. She was given cakes from a vending machine and then taken to the canteen at the police station for something to eat.’

Reported by Richard Owen in The Times, 15 March 2009.

Ms Donnino said that Ms Knox had been “comforted” by police, given food and drink, and had at no stage been hit or threatened.

John Follain in his meticulous book Death in Perugia, page 134, also reports that Knox was given food and drink during her questioning:

During the questioning, detectives repeatedly went to fetch her a snack, water, and hot drinks including camomile tea.

False Claim 8: The translator was hostile towards Amanda Knox.

No she wasn’t.

Saul Kassin offers no evidence that the translator was hostile towards Amanda Knox and there is no evidence that this was the case. Nobody at the questura has claimed this. Amanda Knox’s own lawyers have not claimed this.

Even Amanda Knox herself has never ever claimed that Anna Donnino was hostile towards her although she had every opportunity to do so when being questioned on the stand.

False Claim 9: The translator was acting as an agent for the police.

No she wasn’t.

Saul Kassin offers no evidence to support this claim, which by the way in Italy is the kind of unprofessional charge that incurs calunnia suits. Do ask Curt Knox.

False Claim 10: The police lied to Amanda Knox.

No they didn’t.

The police didn’t mislead Amanda Knox. They told her quite truthfully that Sollecito was no longer providing her with an alibi, and that he had just claimed in the next interrogation room that she wasn’t at his apartment from around 9:00pm to about 1:00am. This also is the kind of unprofessional charge that incurs calunnia suits

Ohhh Yehhh -- like they were there the whole time or would do it in front of witnesses and then admit to it. LOL

He never ever lodged a complaint.

You don't complain about anything the police or prosecutor do in Italy or they tack on 10 years to your sentence as they did in this case.

“She’s guilty because he said so and the Italian court says she did it.”

She admitted it in a recorded phone conversation with her mother. Making false accusations and claiming you saw soomeone else rape and murder someone is not the best way to convince others of your innocence.

No. I was here at the time, and I know how FR reacted. It seems you have as much problem with your memory as Amanda Knox does.

Maybe I should just fess up and say I don’t care what she did, so long as *our* laws are faithfully executed. If she is extradited, then *our* laws are not being faithfully executed. That is the extent of my concern.

Everything else is just emotional posturing, and I don’t care about it. Did she get away with murder? Don’t know/don’t care. Deciding is not my job. It’s also not my job to worry about crimes she may commit in the future. That’s for clairvoyants and liberals.

If you are saying FReepers lined up to keep Elian from being sent to Cuba, then you are the one with a faulty memory. There were a number of better exchanges and FReepers gone forever. A shocking number of otherwise good people sided with Castro.

America also lets a Negro ex-football player go if he murders a white woman and a Jewish waiter.

Kind of a moot point anyway. She’s going to make a ton of money off of book deals and movie rights, If she was ever in threat of extradition she’ll move to a safer location.

You are correct, sir. We were. Especially the kicking the door down, pointing fully-automatic assault weapons (IOW, the real kind, not the kind the media blathers about) in the child’s face, and dragging him away part.

Very pissed. But it was not universal, which surprised me (and probably you) at the time.

What exactly do you mean? In what way would an extradition be against US law?

I believe there is enough reasonable doubt that in a US court of law, Amanda would have been found Not Guilty.

True enough. It was not universal, and some had no problems with it.
