‘Young Guns’ special looks at the dangerous intersection of children and firearms

Every hour, a child is hospitalized because of a gun.

Every other day, a child is killed by gunshots.

The staggering statistics, compiled by ABC News, are part of a new “20/20” investigation into youngsters and guns — and how to prevent them from shooting themselves or their peers.

An early preview of “Young Guns” on ABC’s “Good Morning America” shows how curious kids will find, and play with, guns if they find them.

After telling two young boys to yell for an adult if they find a gun, a child psychologist leaves a playroom where the youngsters’ every move is caught on camera.

The boys quickly find the gun — but they don’t call for help. Instead, one picks up the real, unloaded gun and even points it towards his face.

“I’m touching it,” he says, as if taunting. “I’m pulling it (the trigger). See how many times….”

The other boy then picks up the gun, takes fake aim and pretends to dry-fire the weapon.

The problem is not the guns, it's the kids. They're a bunch of young communists. They have no sense of "mine" and "thine." Any kid who goes rummaging through someone else's belongings, even their parents' belongings, needs a good application of a razor strap on their posterior.

I grew up around firearms. I shot firearms from an early age. I knew and was educated to respect firearms and other people. The old ways were best. Today, there is no education to speak of regarding the use of firearms only a media which prints words (opinions) that firearms are bad and all people are bad. Could not be further from the truth. But today is today and there is a truth called the Second. No wonder the media and politicians teach firearms are bad. They fear an armed population as well they should. Long live Freedom and the Second.
