As a Christian that loves Israel and the Jewish people, I have puzzled about my friend and her family.
Both she and her husband "celebrate Christmas," two of their three children have married non-Jews, though non-religious.
This couple proudly proclaims that almost all of their friends are Christians!
I've inquired which tribe(s) they are from, if they know as well as bringing them some items back from Jerusalem on my travels. I thought my friend might like to have something from Israel and I assumed that they'd be interested in seeing Israel, to which, she said, "No, that's not any place I desire to visit!"
My friend pointed out that the only item in her home from there, came from me and that's why she displays it.
You have given me much greater insight to her (their) ambivalence toward their Jewish heritage and I thank you for it.
In your case, an unusually strong intellectualism saved you from being a “go-along” Jew. You would probably find the philosophical debates of the various sages very interesting as well, as in the Gemara. I particularly like the “If this, then that” reasoning of the many things debated throughout the thousands of years.

Well, I think everything about his “Presidency” is an act, and that the players upon the stage are puppets, having their strings pulled and their dialogue written by George Soros and his “One World” communist minions.
We all will agree that “Obama is deeply and poisonously anti-Semitic.” And, I will concede that John Effing Kerry has a tendency to “shoot off his mouth.”
HSAT, however, I still maintain that his entire “Presidency” [Dictatorship!] is VERY TIGHTLY SCRIPTED, and any and ALL “panic and chaos [in the WH]” was part and parcel of the script.
Ophonybama and his LIEberal thugs mean to do, and are causing, great harm to those of us who believe in FReedom and the Rule of Law.
That is their intent, and they are aided and abetted by a LIEberal, badly misguided press corps. The American people are not getting the truth, and are being terribly mislead as a result.
Somehow, someway, we have got to regain control of our country!
We can start that process in November by making the House more conservative and electing a conservative Senate!

That is a very powerful statement of the facts/situation. We can only hope and pray that the midterms are a watershed. If the Dems lose big enough Obama’s name will be mud even to the party faithful. I know that’s hard to believe but nobody likes a loser, particularly liberals. If only Boehner will drop his amnesty madness, Nov may prove to be everything we’re hoping for. I just wish there was some way Boehner and McConnell cd get swept out on the tide. They really need to go, the sooner the better.

We have to hold the Republicans feet to the fire and ensure that his words remain true.
THE conservative issue for 2014 should be the abject failure of Obamacare! If we conservatives push hard enough and are able to keep the failure stories alive, we win BIG in November!
To do that, we’ll have to overcome a hellofalot of media indifference to the issue.
For example, here in Jacksonville, a trial is starting wherein a young black male was shot and killed by a white man in an altercation over loud rap music outside a convenience store.
THE COURT HAS ISSUED 180 PRESS PASSES FOR THE TRIAL!
The trial will be covered 24/7, and will be a cause celeb for weeks.
IOW, this one trial will garner more media attention that ALL of the Ophonybama scandals!
And, we wonder why our civilization is going to rack and ruin?

I put in a good word for Zimmerman some time back w my younger sister, and she yelled at me and wouldn’t speak to me for mos afterward. I hope a similar situation doesn’t develop over this new trial.

Yes, I moved to Jax in 1955 and left to attend FSU in 1959. And, except for brief visits, I lived out West and in Virginia until I returned in 2004.

HST, I can understand his FRustration — I personally HATE Rap (I DO NOT CALL IT MUSIC!), and particularly dislike being forced to listen to it by rude teenagers!
The point of my comment, though, is that there are more “press persons” investigating this murder than have EVER investigated ANY of Ophonybama’s crimes.
If Ophonybama and his LIEberal thug administration got as much press attention as the Dunn trial is going to get, he would be long gone! Perhaps, even in a federal maximum security prison, where he most definitely belongs!
Republicans need to focus on trashing Obamacare and trashing LIEberals between now and November 2014.

Thanks for your post, good insights. I’ve only met liberal Jews in my life and not many of them. But they were all libs.....some were rabid libs. One, a 50 year old man that I used to have on Facebook, displayed his biblical ignorance by accusing me of posting New Testament bible verses from Psalms and Jeremiah in a political conversation/argument we were having. I kid you not. I ended up pulling the plug on him as he was just SUCH a communist that it was obvious we had nothing whatsoever in common.
Another Jewish man I knew seemed very much like you describe toward Israel. Absolutely no solidarity with them at all.
It honestly seems to me that American Jews either don’t know, have forgotten or don’t believe about being God’s chosen people.
