Liberalism's Biggest Lie: If You Like Your Morality, You Can Keep Your Morality
Public Discourse (The Witherspoon Institute) ^ | January 31, 2014 | Carson Holloway

Five years ago, the president falsely told Americans, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” For the last fifty years, liberalism as a movement of moral liberation has repeatedly assured Americans, “If you like your morality, you can keep your morality.” In both cases, the game is to promise a limited reform that will not seriously disturb the status quo while delivering changes that have revolutionary consequences.

(snip)

After polygamy, what will be liberalism’s new frontier of sexual liberation? Lowering the age of consent? Abolishing laws against prostitution? Normalization of adult incest? No one can say.

(snip)

No one can say where sexual liberation will stop, because liberalism will not be honest with the country about its ultimate ends, and may not even know those ends itself. This makes contemporary sexual liberalism a frightening spectacle, and Americans ought to reexamine their commitment to it.

Our ancestors went to war against the government for a tiny tea tax and now look at the burden and government we have with no response from the people.

Either our ancestors were remarkable or we are a nation of cowards today who have come to do nothing.

Some of them actually believe that we can let morality slip “just this far and no further”...

It has to do with their general “intellectual” arrogance that they can control the society in an ad hoc manner.

As for me and my house, we will keep our morality and not conform to the ways of the world. I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s time for a separate “covenant marriage” that is recognized by the Church and conforms to the teachings of the Church. Whether the couple also registered the marriage with the State is up to them. With the tax laws and health care subsidies, it might make sense for some couples to opt not to register their marriage with the State.

The point is, as Leon Trotsky accurately put it, you may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.

You can try to cloister yourself in an atmosphere of moral sanity, but Leftist society will make war on you because of it. They will INSIST on teaching your children their version of "morality," with or without your permission.

Join the army, or join the enemy.

Both, actually.

Agreed. I'll resist as long as I can but there is a line that if they cross I'll have to stand my ground and fight.

If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” (Churchill)

Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!" (Wallace)

difference between conservatives and liberals.

conservatives criminalize what you do.

liberals criminalize what you think.

another way to say it is conservatives want to punish the criminals. liberals work to make us all criminals.

If it is moral or ethical the liberals feel there should be no controls at all. But, from helmets and seat belts to schools and 40 oz sodas they believe everything you do should be regulated.

The only Morality they will allow in the end will be a complete lack of private morality and only public morality to the state will be allowed...

The article didn’t really express the REAL reason for traditional morality: God will bless it, as He did our nation for the first couple hundred years. That was no accident. Our Founders understood this, and that’s why they made our laws indistinguishable from God’s commands. That also was no accident.

The reverse of that is just as true, but leftists are too spiritually insane to even recognize it: God pours out His wrath on nations that disobey His rules. That’s how our formerly prosperous nation is now teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. That’s no accident either.
