The openness of top Democrats to the House GOP's immigration principles could undercut Speaker John Boehner's credibility on the right as he seeks to sell his conference on moving forward. Obama had previously said he would not sign an immigration reform bill that does not provide a pathway to citizenship. On Friday, he said on CNN:
[If Boehner] proposes something that says right away, folks aren't being deported, families aren't being separated, we're able to attract top young students to provide the skills or start businesses here, and then there's a regular process of citizenship, I'm not sure how wide the divide ends up being. On a Google Hangout event, Obama said he did not want "two categories of people" in the United States, which, after reading the "immigration principles" document, Gutierrez said would not be the case.
You know what, the Republicans arent saying they must permanently stay in the status, he said. That is not what they are saying. So there isnt any permanent second-class citizenship, as Ive read. Now a lot of this is going to be in the specifics.
GOP leaders have refused to answer questions about whether their principles would lead to citizenship for illegal aliens.
When asked three times on CBS's Face the Nation whether illegal immigrants would ultimately be able to gain citizenship, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) avoided answering the question each time. Last week, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) also twice refused to deny that the "immigration principles" would ultimately allow the country's illegal immigrants to be put on a path to citizenship.

The Dems embrace this as it can be used to pummel GOP all the way to November instead of being on defensive on Obamacare.
Here is the secret:
Boehner has no credibility with conservatives and other patriots.
Even if it was 20 years. Dropping 12 or 20 million Democrat voters on the rolls is immediate GOP death. Even if you waited 5 years and created 1 million Democrats every year for 15 years the GOP would not survive those 20 years. Also the new Democrat voters can leave the deep red and deep blue states they generally live in.
If the GOP is on the path to suicide by 2030 or 2040 they still need to do the right thing until then protecting citizens from criminal aliens.

Pummel conservatives. Not the GOP. There’s a difference and both sides are setting this up to marginalize us and delegitimize our positions.
The “probationary status” thing is a red herring. Mark Levin is correct that the courts are very likely to reject such a two-tiered arrangement, and grant them all citizenship ex-post facto.
The Dems who are supporting it know this.
What bothers me more tan anything isn’t the next generation of dhimmy voters — it is this generation DOES NOT WANT CITIZENSHIP!
They won’t go through the hoops, no payments, no background checks, no nothing. They will say “gracias idiotas” and happily accept their permanent residency status AKA amnesty.
It is their kids who will vote dhimmy.
This is a suicide plan for the USA.
Boehner is willing to sacrifice the Republican majority for 30 pieces of gold from the chamber of commerce corporate fascists.
Why is Boehner still the Speaker of the House???
This has to be one of the stupidest moves ever made by a Speaker of the House. The man is a complete moron.
The real point is to overload the system immediately so zero people get deported. Then the Dems worry about the freebies later.
If you look young (under 40) and Hispanic you just tell the ICE agents you are a dreamer.
I can’t help but wonder what Obama has on him. With all the NSA snooping at his disposal, Obama can make anyone do whatever he wants.
The Dems are too busy laughing their asses off to embrace anything.

Reagan’s support for amnesty in 1987 gave the GOP no Hispanic vote swell the following year in 1988 for George Bush. In fact, Bush’s vote % by Hispanics was smaller than prior to amnesty.
History shows Boehner does not know anything at all.
Why does he have to insist on shooting holes in the bottom of his (and our) already leaky boat?
Boehner’s credibility was hurt, when he demanded “Divine Right”, and took the position, from a Tea Party electee!
The GOP better hope there is a stream of illegal aliens going back over into Mexico...or they will lose 2014 and 2016
Then Boehner will just have to make the bill a little more onerous to Democrats.
Boehner has no credibility.
Wait aminute he says he does not want two classes of people? He has been waging class warfare for 5 years.
