Hype-notized: Hillary-Wendy 2016 is “dream ticket”
Legal Insurrection ^ | February 3, 2014 | Professor William A. Jacobson

Wendy Davis has inspired some Texas-sized hype after her pro-late term abortion filibuster.

That hype has hit the rocks of a busted personal narrative, a bizarre media strategy, and a “deja victim” attitude.

But some true believers still believe.

Like the author of this column, Hillary Clinton and Wendy Davis could be the 2016 Democrat presidential dream ticket:

If elected, Hillary Clinton would become the first woman elected President of the United States. Adding a woman as running mate could energize women all over the country, but particularly in the south.

The logical choice for a variety of reasons is Texas state senator Wendy Davis.

Doesn’t she have to get elected governor first?

Of course, but Davis is now getting herself positioned as a very strong candidate who could loosen the Republican stranglehold in Texas of Republican governors?

Davis is scaring the “beejeezes” out of her competition as evidence by the opposition research out there trying to derail her candidacy.

It is not working and signs are it is backfiring in Davis’ favor.

Is Clinton/Davis a possible ticket for 2016? …

A Davis victory in Texas will certainly intrigue Hillary Clinton. The geographic possibilities are enormous. If this “red state” indeed turns purple in 2014, that would tip the election to the Democrats far into the future. The 38 electoral votes in Texas (up 4 electoral votes from 2010) are low-hanging fruit with Davis on the national ticket.

It is for that very reason that Democrats will flock to Texas to give Wendy Davis a helping hand, not so much for winning in Texas, but for the national implications of controlling the White House for four more years, with an option for another four.

There is a big “what if” in that equation, namely Davis winning the Texas Governor’s race.

What possibly could go wrong? Other than everything.

A successful big-state governor who had no powerful father or husband to aid her isn't qualified to be vice president but a gold-digging state senator is? Oh, the one is pro-life and the other is pro-abortion? That explains it, never mind!

Interesting ticket. One stuck with a no-good husband and the other dumped a decent husband. Could lead to some interesting ‘family values’ discussions.

I’d be happy with that ticket. Easy to ridicule.

Not going to happen. Look for Hillary to have a La Raza-type hispanic VP... someone to be groomed for after her second term ends in 2024. By then the hispanic vote will be well into the 30-35% range.

“Hillary can make anyone she wants vice president.”

Exactly. She could bring Barney Frank out of retirement to be her running mate and still win by 10%+, but the hispanics want their piece of the action and will demand one of their own. I bet it’ll be one of Joaquin or Julian Castro.

Benghazi She has so much baggage and is so incompetent that she will not win. Then there is the question of her health

The author of this article is dreaming. Davis is not benefiting from any backlash over the truth about her coming out. She is attempting to deflect blame to Abbott and he’s had nothing to do with it. She will not win in Texas.

Most likely, though the GOP nominee will probably win more than six states.

Agreed. I am convinced Hillary will be POTUS. She should have no problem winning/stealing every state Obama picked up in 2012 (with his disastrous record), at minimum. She and Bill will basically run as a team. Campaign theme will be Clinton’s 1990s economy and gender politics (first woman, are you ready, lets make history, etc). It won’t be a Reaganesque landslide but similar to Obama 2008. Sadly. The country, on the POTUS election level, demographically speaking, has shifted to a much more pro welfare, less self reliance state of mind.

Last time out, Hillary couldn't beat an relatively unknown half term senator, with a history of cocaine use and a professional background of being nothing more than a community organizer.

Other than her stellar performance with Benghazi and getting eight years uglier, what on earth has changed in her appeal that leads you to both believe that she will win the presidency in some historic landslide?

Besides barrels of money ; the Hispanic , female and black voting blocks in the bag ; no real opposition in the Dem party ; her husband ( yes , he will be an asset ) ...? She will be anointed by the media, Hollywood, and pop culture just like Obozo was in 2008 . Only difference between then and now is O was hailed as the “ messiah “ , & Clinton will be the “ queen “ ready to ascend to HER Royal throne .
