The game was called “Cross the Line,” an ironic title because that’s exactly what parents of students at a middle school in Marinette, Wisconsin think the educators did. WLUK Fox 11 News is reporting that Marinette Middle School played the game in which 5th through 8th graders were grouped together and asked to step forward if they had a “yes” answer to questions like, “Do your parents drink?” and “Has anyone in your family been to jail?”
It’s unclear who exactly was leading the game. Parent Amanda Fifarek was not happy with the activity, telling WLUK, “It was too personal. It’s just things your kids don’t need to be disclosing to other kids.” It’s hard to argue with Ms. Fifarek. 6th grader Sarah Maitlin told the station, “[The school employee] asked if you ever wanted to commit suicide to step forward and then after that she asked if you ever experienced or wanted to cut, to step forward.” I’m going to say maybe that kind of conversation is best left to a one-on-one.

It’s almost chid abuse to send your kid to public school. They’re doing everything they can to take your lovable child and turn him into a statist minion with no morals or values.
Well, maybe the parents should go to a board meeting en-mass and demand all board members stand up play it, right there, right then. And not leave until it is played.

When referring to “generations” in Public School terms, that’s about 20 years, the way I count.
This was going on in the late 60’s.
Prayer took an exit in 63.
I should have phrased it more accurately.
I was thinking the teacher’s profs that she learned from were 2nd generation progressive ed.
They are also vindictive and immature, so it can create a great deal of trouble for your kid to make an enemy of them.
The average parent adopts “the don’t make waves” paradigm.

I looked up the game and found that it was intended as anti-bullying. It is still pretty stupid, but the i didn’t find any questions like the ones that were used in the Wisconsin school. The questions that I read had to do with the kids that had been bullied. They asked if the students had contemplated suicide and if so, to cross the line. They said that the object of the game was acquaint the students with the issues that bring on the bullying, that once the students understood the stories behind the bullying it would be more difficult to bully them.
It didn’t make any sense. It looks as though the Wisconsin tried to expose the bullies, not to the understand the victims. My guess is that these teachers were going to try to prove that bullies came from families who drank alcohol and owned fire arms.

In Oregon yes.
In the rural South no.
They as I said populate boards and staff....not so much actual teachers but principals and counselors
But in my county we are 70-75% voters against democrats
And the state ....TN....we are about 65%....in a state 20% black.....Oregon is only 2% black.....crazy how so many whites are nuts there

Even a long time ago, when I was a kid, my parents were *very* clear that “no stranger wants to know *anything* about you for *your* benefit.”
Strangers being those outside of the family. And the same rule applies to strangers asking about the family. It *especially* includes reporters and those who you can see are recording you.
“Reporters are willing to ruin your life, and the lives of everyone in our family. That’s what they do.”
This is serious enough to be lumped into the training against “stranger danger”. Such people are psychological child molesters.
This was not an uncommon approach even among my peers at the time. In 5th grade, the teacher passed out a “survey” by a person or persons unknown, that asked all sorts of intrusive questions. As 5th graders, for heavens’ sake, we could tell that the “survey” was intended to generate some pretty horrible conclusions. And it was obvious that this was being done to change public policies. The law.
As a class, we told the teacher as much, and we refused to take the survey. And to his credit, he agreed that it was the work of scoundrels, so refused to order it.
I imagine he took a big hit for that. Scoundrels don’t like to be thwarted. We eventually concluded that it really didn’t matter *what* we wrote, they would have twisted it all around anyway. Vile people.
Do the good little Mao soldiers also get the ‘little red book’, too?
