Republican takeover of the U. S. Senate this November

Posted on 02/04/2014 1:23:11 PM PST by HalTa

There has been numerous articles on the possible Republican takeover of the Senate by concentrating Republican effort and resources on the six Democrat Senators that are up for reelection in Red States that Romney won in the 2012 election. This is all well and good but it would be a giant mistake to ignore the Blue State senatorial races. After all, there are NINETEEN Democrat senators up for reelection this year. There is no reason to believe these Democrats are any less vulnerable then their Red State cronies. This year is not a "normal" election. The Blue State voters who have had their Health Care destroyed by Obamacare, are going to be just as outraged by this abomination known as Obamacare. They may even have stronger feeling than us. Their Boy Wonder President has just double crossed them all and badly hurt them financially. This 2014 election is most critical for America. Our goal should be 100% effort to defeat ALL Democrat Senators Red State and Blue State. There are many relatively weak Senators up for reelction. in these Blue States. People like Al Franken, Minn., Jean Shaneen, New Hampshire, Alan Coons, Delaware. In addition Jay Rockefeller, W. Virginia is retiring {he sees the writing on the wall.} The Democrats have savaged the economy of West Virginia, with any effort at all this should be a Republican victory. The same goes for Michigan, Carl Levin is also "retiring". We have to go all out to put an end to Obama's destruction of America by taking away the Senate. Imagine senate leadership without the stomach churning presence of Harry Reed.

Thank you for your reply. Now, my comments.

Virginia is not one of the States that I, and others, will be counting on to help take the control of the Senate away from the Dems. IMO, Virginia, with the D.C. influence, is becoming another California politically.

We have to concentrate on the States where we have a GREAT chance of replacing the current, retiring Democrat incumbents; three that come to mind are Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia. We also concentrate on States that Romney carried in 2012 where we have a very good chance of taking out the Dem incumbents, i.e. Landrieu (LA), Udall (CO), Pryor (AR) and Begich (AK). And finally, the “Blue” States like Michigan which has a retiring Senator (Carl Levin) who is a Dem, but there are enough Conservative die-hards in the State to elect a Conservative in a low voter-turnout Primary and off year election.

Now, there are other races that, in the light of America’s hatred for ObamaCare, we have a chance of stealing those Senate seats. (I’m thinking Shaheen in NH.) And, since we only need to pick up six (6) seats, Wayne.... this is very doable Bro. There could be some election night surprises. Wait and see.

Enjoyed the dialogue.

Heard today, that former GOP Senator Larry Pressler is running as an Independent in South Dakota. This type of crap is how the Dems will hold on to control of the Senate. I hope it’s a rumor, but, it’s probably not. This is how McAuliffe won the Governorship of VA. Get a 3rd Party candidate to siphon votes off of the Pubbie. Why can’t the Republicans do the same thing? Get 2 or 3 “Democrat friendly” Third Party candidates for every race.

I just got through checking what I hoped was a planted DNC rumor, but it turns out you are right. It’s in numerous news outlets, including a gloating Washington Post article. It turns out ex senator Pressler is described as a “moderate”, and happily reported that he endorsed and voted for Obama in both 2008 and 2012.

It’s obvious his motive is to prevent a Conservative taking over the seat and opposing Obama. May he rot in hell.

Well, maybe he will take away as many votes from the Dem candidate as he does from the Pubbie.
