Conservative 'Dump the Leadership' launches six-figure campaign
thehill.com ^ | 2/4/14 | Cameron Joseph

The conservative group ForAmerica is pushing to oust GOP leaders in both the House and Senate with a new campaign called "Dump the Leadership."

The organization, long a critic of both House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), calls on both leaders to step down in its new online advertising campaign.

ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell tells The Hill that the group is likely to spend at least $675,000 on the web campaign between now and the November election, and could increase the sum to more than a million dollars in the future.

"We need new leadership," Bozell said. "People are tired of supporting the Republican PArty because of the lack of leadership. These leaders have broken their word too many times and they need to be replaced. These men are simply not up to the task."

Bozell ripped both Boehner and McConnell, and said the 4.5 million Facebook fans the group has will likely jump into action to support the group's efforts.

"We know how to flex our muscles," he said. "Until there is new leadership, across the board Republicans are going to suffer. Good luck winning elections in November if the same people have the same formula as in 2012 — 'do nothing and we'll get the majority,' they're at it again.

"I'm sick and tired of picking up the paper and finding these preemptive surrenders, like Boehner today on the debt ceiling. If they did anything that had a taste of fiscal conservatism I'd be shocked," Bozell continued. "They need a new generation of leadership. There's no question that these leaders have failed, they've not helped."

"Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon. But if they mean to have a war, let it begin here!" - Capt. John Parker, Lexington Green

They've declared war on us. We don't need to be all nicey nicey like Mitt Romney. We need to take the leadership out! We can start with John Cornyn on March 4th!

March 4th. A very fitting date and slogan!

Looks like the beltway established conservatives are joining the bandwagon. There’s money to be raised here.

Bozell is a second generation conservative activist and hopefully not leading to any allegiance to the GOPe and or RIchard Nixon type Republicans.

Ditch Mitch and Boner too as an emphasis on improving GOPe performance.

I think we do ourselves a terrible disservice when we mention Richard Nixon after the antics of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

The vile evil nature templet attributed to Richard Nixon was in large part the concoction of the Left, the Washington Post, Katheryn Graham, Woodward, and Bernstein.

Was Nixon problematic? Sure. To say otherwise would be untrue. At the same time, Nixon was a choir boy compared to Clinton and Obama.

Did Nixon hate this nation? Was he a big fan of Communist Russia, Communist China, and the Islamic hoard? Did he do things that helped these entities put us into submission?

Nixon played China off against Russia. He did not advocate the gifting of our technology and national secrets to China, which Clinton and others certainly did. He didn’t have members of the Muslim Brotherhood or anything like them, as his advisers. He didn’t give high level weapons to the PLO, or their equivalent Al Qaeda or the Muslim Brotherhood.

So what are we doing when we bring him up? We’re sticking to the talking points of the Left, who still see Nixon as the great Satan, and Clinton and Obama as making unintentional mistakes that Conservatives blow up beyond their import.

Big mistake in my book.

Good to see Bozell active in this. Now only if his media properties (MRC, NewsBusters) would start calling out PhonyCon media...like they do Liberal media...

A republican acquaintance who believes in the GOPe said, after I told him we need to get rid of the leadership, “so you would shoot your friends in the back”.

I said no, I would shoot them between the eyes and in the chest, as they are willingly standing with the enemy, not only with the enemy but right in the front ranks, and employing maximum fire power in my direction.

He got peeved and walked away, I do not understand their loyalty to the enemy within, it is such an obvious, clear and present danger.

Nixon was no conservative...his opening of Communist China has resulted in trillions of $ lost to the US economy...and also the EPA was put into law by Nixon’s signing the law

Watergate was minor compared to other Nixon issues

“He got peeved and walked away, I do not understand their loyalty to the enemy within, it is such an obvious, clear and present danger.”

I’ve had any number of arguments on FR with the same types. We must support the republican nominee, whoever it is, they say. Yet when I point out the treachery of Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Lincoln Chafee, Lisa Murkowski, Richard Luger, John Warner, John Huntsman, Jim Jeffords, Dede Scozzafava, etc., they say nothing.

Party loyalty is a one way street, and it always leads in the direction of the liberals.

Purifying the GOP of incompetents is needed to get real Conservative leaders

Thank you for referencing that article cotton1706.

Noting that I am way past the point where I would hesitate to ask James Madison if he knew about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, I question if emerging conservative(?) groups, including the ones behind the "Dump the Leadership" campaign, are aware of and respect these limited powers. After all, Constitution-impaired patriots have a tendency, as evidenced by the 2010 elections, to elect RINOs to replace incumbent RINOs.

Nixon opened up China in that he sought to develop ties that would keep the U.S.S.R. off balance at the height of the Cold War.

The massive trade with China started around 1990-1992, almost twenty years after Nixon left office. And yet here you give him the blame for it.

The decisions to promote and expand the trade that cost us trillions, was enacted by subsequent administrations. We didn’t have to go that route based on Nixon’s efforts. We did based on other politician’s efforts.

During the Clinton administration Chinese spies were allowed to operate from within the White House and other top level government agencies.

One such spy would take top level CIA briefing materials, then walk across the street and fax documents to China. China obtain our top level neutron bomb tech.

In the day when China was opened by Nixon, we had no idea what was going on in China. We probably did have some contacts, but it was a closed society. And when I say closed, it was closed. We wouldn’t find out some of it’s leaders had died for weeks or months. This and other aspects of their closed society presented a security risk.

I don’t seek to say Nixon was a good Conservative, because he wasn’t. He did create the EPA, and did other bad things as well. None the less, if you look at the broad spectrum of things done by Clinton and Obama, Nixon was a piker when it comes to the destruction leveled by the other two.

When we bring up Nixon, bypassing Clinton and Obama, what does that say about their comparative culpability in the destruction of our nation.

It says Nixon was so bad, we need to go all the way back to him for an example of bad.

Ah..., no..., we don’t. I won’t bring Nixon up as a bad guy. It says way too much about Republican vs Democrat and the destruction of our nation.

The Democrats win hands down there. Over the years, the Republicans have begun to challenge that leadership. As revolting as it is, we can mitigate some of it by placing contemporary blame exactly where it should be placed.

Nixon? No.

Thanks for the note of agreement, and for the mention of Matel. I’m sure they weren’t the only ones. I gauge it the most part by the massive trade deficits we started to run around 1992. At that point we just went “all-in” for all intents and purposes.

BTW: Your views re: Nixon are not isolated. The media, Democrats, and a lot of Republicans share them. I think the education system played into this, just going for the Nixon jugular ever chance they’ve gotten over the last 40 years. And you can add at least another 10-15 on that prior to Watergate for the media.

A couple weeks ago, younger kid drove herself to the Nixon Library to check the place out. All is not lost on the next generation and when facts are compared about the various wrongdoings of presidents, there are plenty who see that Clinton was worse and 0bama is worse.

Thanks for the uplifting report.

I wonder how many people who like to dump on Nixon, remember that he ended the draft and converted our military into a volunteer force.
