SPECIAL REPORT-Return of the Reagan Revolution: GOP outsiders out-finance the insiders.
The American Spectator ^ | February 4, 2014 | Jeffrey Lord, former Reagan WH political director

Posted on 02/04/2014 4:26:21 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

he Reagan Revolution is back. In fact, as documented side-by-side on the front page of the New York Times — on the Sunday before the February 6 celebration of Reagan’s 101st birthday no less — the Reagan Revolution is not just alive but thriving.

Ironically, one story was about The Why. The other story was about The Results of The Why.

The first Times headline put it this way in describing The Why:

Law Doesn’t End Revolving Door on Capitol
Plenty of Exemptions
Ex-Aides Find Ways to Rapidly Begin New Lobbying Jobs

The first paragraph of this story began this way:

A top aide to a Republican congressman from Arizona helped promote a legislative plan to overhaul the nation’s home mortgage finance system. Weeks after leaving his government job, he reappeared on Capitol Hill, now as a lobbyist for a company poised to capitalize on the plan.

The second story, what we might call The Results that come from The Why, appeared right next to the first above-the-fold, was headlined this way:

Fund-Raising By GOP Rebels Outpaces Party Establishment

The paper began this report as follows:

Insurgent conservatives seeking to pull the Republican Party to the right raised more money last year than the groups controlled by the party establishment, whose bulging bank accounts and ties to major donors have been their most potent advantage in the running struggle over the party’s future, according to new campaign disclosures and interviews with officials.

The shift in fortunes among the largest and most influential outside political groups, revealed in campaign filings made public late Friday, could have an enormous impact on the 2014 election cycle….

Groups representing the party establishment, like Karl Rove’s Crossroads, are struggling to bring in the level of cash....

“Is he right?”

I don’t know, but I’m going to donate as much money as I possibly can this year to further freedom in this country. That does not include a single cent to the RNC etc.

Oh, and Happy Birthday!!! :-)

The RNC called me today and I told them I had just given $100 to the Senate Conservatives Fund....which is true. The guy was nice and politely went away.

Probably made a check mark in a box “gives to conservatives”. I hope.

I’m really disappointed by my congress critter John Carter - Texas.

He is part of the leadership it looks like, even voted for the Farm/Pork bill that just passed. His is running unchallenged in the primary. That’s too bad, cause it gives him the ability to smooch with John Boehner for some committee chairmanship or part of the leadership.

DC tends to have a bad effect on most pols.
Very few can resist the “go along to get along effect”.

Next time tell you gave to Steve Stockman, but the person on the phone probably has never heard of Mr. Stockman.

Very few can resist the “go along to get along effect”.

Not making excuses, but it's a tough gig. Self-respect along with FBI, NSA, DOJ, IRS threats and intimidation (or blackmail) topped with media smears versus a gold-plated ticket-to-ride sell-out. Take your pick.

Now I have hope, and am anxious for change!

Imagine, all those Republican staffers who become lobbyists and then there old bosses and friends get thrown out of office. They wouldn't have anyone to lobby.

Stovall is my preferred candidate for the Senate in Texas, but as long as there is a runoff for the nomination, I’ll be satisfied with either Stovall or Stockman. Either of them is a huge improvement over Cornyn.

There are probably over 50 million conservative Americans. At $100 each that's $5 billion dollars, which is plenty.

We get the government we pay for.

That means we'd damned well better pay for it, but wisely.

Happy Birthday.
I believe he's right.
This is really good news.
But the "Establishment Republicans" need their blood poured into the sewer, where it belongs!
They sell us out, and don't expect us to "Take them out" ?
Here's to their quick trip to HELL !

Stovall needs to rise up in TX politics first, he’s definitely a keeper.

Stockman’s already fighting our fight: we need him to continue.

If we support him as much as we did Cruz, Stockman should be the pebble that avalanches down on to the GOPe, rendering them powerless, once and for all.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell runs dead even with Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes in Rasmussen Reports’ first look at the 2014 U.S. Senate race in Kentucky. But McConnell’s GOP primary rival Matt Bevin leads Grimes by six points.

WOW! That's great news! How long before the media asks him if he stopped beating his wife yet or if he still thinks rape victims can't get pregnant? You know they're going to try to crucify him.
