Chris Christie leaves Bridgegate heads to Texas to help GOP - Rick Perry, Greg Abbott send regrets
Dallas Morning News ^ | 2/5/14 | Wayne Slater

Chris Christie is coming to Texas to raise some money – and it’s not a bridge he wants to sell you. The embattled New Jersey governor is head of the Republican Governors Association, so his trip to Texas is part of a nationwide effort to raise money for fellow GOP governors as well as to show party leaders he’s still a viable political figure for the future.

Likely GOP gubernatorial nominee Greg Abbott will not join Christie. An aide said Abbott will be in Houston as part of a statewide series of appearances on immigration. The RGA was a major donor to Gov. Rick Perry when he ran for reelection. Perry spokesman Rich Parsons said the governor also would not be attending.

Looks like Karl Rove will be the only one attending Christie's fundraisers in Texas.

Will he meet and hug Wendy Davis while he’s lumbering through my beloved Texas?

Texas conservatives running for office do not need Christie’s “help.” Anything he would do to “help” would be used against them in campaign ads later.

Why in the world did the GOP governors elect Christie to this position in the first place? They don’t call it “The Stupid Party” for nothing.

One of my favorites, actually. Kind of a follow-on piece to the Longest Day.

Mine also...just realized how many really good war movies have "Bridge" in the title:

"A Bridge too Far"
"The Bridge at Remagen"
"The Bridges at Toko-Ri"
"Waterloo Bridge" and of course...the superb

"The Bridge on the River Kwai"

LOL, good for Rick. Although it might be kind of amusing to see a picture of Perry and Christie standing next to each other, just for contrast.

Love Perry’s statement. “Governers come to Texas all the time. Hope he enjoys his stay.” Translation: Don’t call me, tubby. Enjoy the food. Lol.
