A Tulsa man who is accused of assaulting and raping a woman in front of children was arrested Monday night. Rigoberto Piedra, 33, was taken into custody in the 1100 block of South Utica Avenue.
Officers were called to Hillcrest Medical Center on Monday after a woman was admitted with injuries she reportedly sustained during a domestic assault, police said. The woman told detectives that Piedra punched and kicked her and pulled her hair on Sunday and Monday at a residence in the 7800 block of East King Place, an arrest report says. She said Piedra tied her hands and feet together "to keep her from escaping or calling for help for several hours," the report states. She said Piedra also pointed a gun at her, choked her until she lost consciousness and then raped her with an object, according to the report.

Not that it really matters, but a good editor would have inserted the word “Committing” into the headline, as in “Man accused of COMMITTING assault, rape in front of children” The present reading looks as though he was simply accused or questioned about these things while in the presence of children, which would be bad as well, but not the same event.
