ABC's David Wright is obsessed with Sarah Palin. The Nightline correspondent on Wednesday gratuitously attacked the former vice presidential candidate in a segment that has nothing to do with politics. Wright investigated angry, violent coaches of youth sports.
After featuring clips of men encouraging third grade football players to hit each other in the head, Wright made an abrupt left turn into liberal bias: "That full-throated passion, part of the culture of sports in this country. Lampooned in movies like Kicking and Screaming and celebrated by the original hockey mom herself, Sarah Palin, in 2008." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]
Cheap Shot: ABC Gratuitously Compares Sarah Palin to Violent, Angry Kids's Coaches
While playing footage of the reality show Friday Night Tykes, Wright marveled, "These are third graders...Another coach pushing his players to do things the NFL has banned."
When did Palin go on expletive-laden rants in front of children? When did the Republican encourage violence against young kids? Wright didn't say. Instead, he played a clip of Palin from her 2008 vice presidential acceptance speech: "You know, they say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."
Just prior to the Palin remark, Wright featured a clip of the Will Ferrell assaulting a child in the movie Kicking and Screaming.
This isn't the first time the reporter has forced his politics into an unrelated story.
On the February 16, 2009 Nightline, he produced a seemingly uncontroversial segment on the 50th anniversary of the Barbie doll. He casually mentioned, "She's been an astronaut and a rock star, pop icons Beyonce and Shakira."
After discussing the many careers Barbie has had, the journalist mocked, "Some would argue she also ran for vice president in 2008."
Wright can be reached on Twitter here. One might ask him why he's so obsessed with trashing Palin.
Strong, righteous women scare effeminate males...
She’s irrelevant, she’s useless, she’s washed up. Which is why six years on, they still bring her up in stories that have nothing whatsoever to do with her.
Apparently they have to keep attacking.
That means they’re still afraid of her.
Living rent free in Leftists’ head.
Blah, blah, blah
Ping to Sarah's Awesome List!
If she’s a “washed-up, has-been, ineffectual, moronic Caribou Barbie” with “no chance of higher office” why go after her hammer & tongs SIX YEARS after her last run? Did they attack Jack Kemp or Dan Quayle (who actually WAS Vice President!) like they’re doing here six years later? Of course not! She gets a lot more press than the guy who actually lives at Number One Observatory Circle! What? Speaker Boehner and Sen. McConnell would kill to get this much publicity, as would Sen. Reid and Rep. Pelosi. Something just doesn’t make sense here.
Well, as Rush says, the left will always show you who they fear.
WOW, she really does live rent free in these idiot leftists heads doesn’t she
I’m not making fun of her. I’m making fun of the sad sacks at ABC.
Bush did it.
He’s not the only agenda-driven ‘journalist’ obsessed with Palin. If she wasn’t around they would have to invent her... which they do...over and over again.
Funny how they didn’t think to use Obama’s comments, such as:
“I want you to argue with them and get in their face.
I think some of these leftists are afraid that Sarah Palin is hiding under their bed with a rifle. They probably make a deal with their kids that they will check the kid’s room for the boogie man, and the kids will check the parent’s room for Palin.
This goes beyond a cheap shot and is defamation. I think the high bar for a public official has been reached.
I was calling her a MILF/GILF 6 months before she announced
You can call her Barbie.
Just don’t call her Babe. Pretty sure that’s insulting, unless yer name is Todd
"If she were a President, she'd be "Babe-raham Lincoln."
I think Kas man slipped.
Although you didn’t include the popular “/s”.
The driving sarcasm is obvious.
Post on and live well....
Sound like ABC fears that Sarah will run in 2016.
