How is this possible? On many things, we have found Costco to be more expensive than BJ’s. We used to shop Costco twice a month. Now we shop there once a month at most and less and less are we finding “steals.” I can’t remember the last time we bought something there that wasn’t on our list. No question Costco’s produce is superior to BJ’s, but that’s about all I’m willing to concede.

Do they accept food stamps? Might be the explanation...

I’m pretty sure they’re required under law to accept them. I know BJ’s does. That said, I don’t see people at Costco using food stamps, while I see them at BJ’s all the time.

——How is this possible? ——

Real easy.....Costco sells better quality items....stores are cleaner....better lighting....more service....prices are competetive to Sam’s...

Wife and I shopped Sam’s for years until we walked into a Costco....

It was a easy decision....

They do not accept food stamps, or credit cards with the exception of AX.

I met my wife online. When I made my first visit to meet her, I told her about Costco and how much better it was than Sam’s Club. She thought I was being a snob; right up to the time she made her first visit to a Costco.

She was a first-time convert.

As stores open in new locations, it probably takes a bit of time to build momentum. With so many new stores, it is easy to see why year over year sales are increasing so much.

My parents go to Costco for prescriptions. It’s the least expensive place for them. Then they pick up a few items, usually staples like Toilet paper, and eat a few samples.

I have a membership at BJ’s which is a quarter mile away. We do serious damage there twice a month. Mom and dad wish BJs would carry a pharmacy, though they do have a very good optical department.

I don’t know anyone who goes to Sams Club anymore now that these stores are around.

They presumably accept them, but only from people who have the $55 annual membership.

Costco has a very upscale economic demographic.
