Weekly Post of Republican Senators' Conservative Ratings

Posted on 02/07/2014 8:07:12 AM PST by cotton1706

I'm still waiting for Club for Growth and ACU to update their ratings to include 2013. Then we'll have very accurate numbers for the primaries.

Senators up for reelection in November are on top, with the primary dates.

Mc Connell seems to be right up there with the leaders. So why are some of you so hell bent to remove him?

Remember when 80& was the accepted standard?

This mess shows just how far we’ve fallen. Most of these ‘republicans’ are nowhere near that. Yup. Lesser evil worked out well for us...

Because he plays a 2 faced game. Votes right when it does not really matter. Works behind the scenes to derail conservative. Now he’s even open about it.

I'm not from KY but as a Republican and one who has a bit of say, here and there, I do not consider McConnell in any way to be a leader or spokesman for the party!

He never goes out and stands up for our beliefs before cameras until forced to do so and makes the most limp-wristed statements when forced to do so, but considering the bulk of the average ratings of those who elect their "leader" it's not at all surprising!

“Mc Connell seems to be right up there with the leaders. So why are some of you so hell bent to remove him?”

Because McConnell is a scheming prick. He’s votes very carefully to fool his constituents while working to undermine conservatism behind the scenes. He votes for cloture or gets enough votes so cloture passes then he votes against the bill but it gets passed anyway so it’s a win-win for him. He puts his cronies at the NRSC to undermine conservatives and support moderate establishment types. He came up with that ridiculous automatic debt-ceiling increase plan, essentially transferring the power for the purse from the House to the executive.

At every turn, he is on the opposite side of conservatism, yet he votes like a conservative to fool the people.

I am not fooled and the people of Kentucky don’t seem to be either. He’s likely to be removed from power one way of the other this year. And the republicans in the senate will have a chance to get new leadership. And halleluyah, because McConnell has been a piss-poor, scheming, conniving, always assisting the democrats, leader.

Oh, and don’t forget that he voted for Amnesty in both 2006 and 2007 and voted for cloture for Amnesty last year.

McConnell plays the same game as Cornyn, his right hand man. Their damage is done away from the Senate floor so it doesn't appear in the tallied votes these ratings are based on.

John Cornyn claims to be the 2nd most conservative member of the Senate.

Yet, as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he
hand-selected these "Republican" candidates:
  • Arlen Specter - Democrat
  • Charlie Crist - Democrat
  • Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
  • Lisa Murkowski - Independent

Also, when he had a chance to stop ObamaCare by supporting Ted Cruz' filibuster

he FAILED

and hid behind a meaningless vote later.

He pulled the same trick on the Senate amnesty bill.

WoW! There are a lot of senators who fall below 80%. McConnell is hovering at the 80% mark. I think the thing that angers everybody with McConnell is that he openly criticizes those who don’t fall in line with him, he rebukes those who are strong leaders, probably because they make HIM look like a fool. He cuts back room deals that he has to know will anger the voters. He is insensitive to what we, the people want, until forced into a corner. He has not held the line when he could. He is not leadership material.

To be honest, if he was just another senator, I’d agree to work at getting a much less conservative senator out. But we all know that he will want the speakership if we take the Senate. He’d be the wrong man for the job, IMHO. He has been forced by the voters to vote more conservatively in the past couple years. Would he hold to conservatism if he was in charge? I’d have to say that it isn’t likely.
