Giffords' husband Mark Kelly backs Oregon gun bill

The husband of former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Mark Kelly, appeared before Oregon legislators on Thursday to speak in favor of expanded background checks for gun sales, as Republicans contended the Democrat-proposed legislation is "political posturing" as Oregon's May primary nears.

Kelly spoke at a contentious public hearing before the state Senate Judiciary Committee, which began examination of a bill that would expand background checks to include private party gun sales. Kelly said he and Giffords support gun rights for sport, self-defense and "part of our national heritage." But he said Oregon's current law has "a loophole you could drive a small truck through" that could allow criminals to obtain guns through sales arranged privately.

Man does this ass-tronut get around. How about this there mx. mark kelley-giffords. The AZ authori-ties come to the conclusion that since gabby suffers from mental incapacities due to the horrific head shot, you (for safety concerns) WILL have all firearms removed from you domicile. After watching the video of you asshats at the range showing your "support for the 2nd" it was pretty obvious that she should not be around firearms. So, mx. mark kelley-giffords, SDSU and stay out of our private lives.

Trying to push the completely unenforceable “Private Sale” law again? Completely unenforceable since unless you are stupid enough to write a receipt for the private sale or accept a check, nobody could ever prove you sold the gun to your buddy before or after the law changed...

It appears that Mark Kelly is exploiting Gabby’s injurys to become the new Sarah Brady.

How disgusting. Seeking notoriety by exploiting your poor brain damaged wife. Sick.

“unenforceable since unless you are stupid enough to write a receipt for the private sale or accept a check, nobody could ever prove...”

That is the whole idea. Government programs are DESIGNED to fail so that they can still have an emergency that requires you to give up more of your rights. Liberals are not illogical or stupid they are just pursuing an objective very different from what they say they a pursuing. No matter what they say they want, all they want, all they ever want, is a workers paradise where the ruling elite have unlimited power and the totalitarian government takes care of everyone’s needs.

Your 15 minutes of fame expired a long time ago.

Please go away.

Oh, it’s enforceable. All you have to do is have complete firearms registration. That’s the end goal of all this crap.

How much more do they feel they need to expand these background checks? Do they not realize that people who will get guns to use for evil intent will go AROUND the same “expanded” background checks? What do these people not get about criminals versus law-abiding citizens and how they aquire firearms. They can’t all be that stupid.

After giving his speech, Capt Kelly was asked by a legislator if the proposed law would have prevented his wife’s shooting. He had to admit, “no”. That pretty much neutralized his testimony.

"Mark Kelly is exploiting Gabby’s injurys"

It's too bad about Gabby's injuries. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But, she was an utter waste of space in congress. She was elected as an open border abortion advocate whose most memorable moment in congress was asking General David Patreus what he was doing to lessen the Army's carbon footprint in Afghanistan.
