I am a
reluctant Comcast customer, I hate that company for more than one reason. There are no viable alternatives in my area for internet and cable.
However, I have never used their email.

I am in the process of switching to just internet and an over the air tv antenna. I get several channels I thought were only on cable. Antenna TV, ME-TV, COZI, This TV and a few others.
Check out http://www.gomohu.com to see what channels are in your area. I use their Leaf antenna.
The cable company compresses the picture so much compared to regular channels. I am using the internet for free tv and movies. You can get a smart tv that has hdmi and usb ports. 3 or more apiece. I bought a LG Electronics 42LN5700 42-Inch LED Smart TV. Easy to setup. (I returned a samsung 6300 as I could not adjust the colors after hours of trying)
You can plug in an external hard drive with your shows or a tablet or blu ray/dvd player. Kinda like a video jukebox. It also has WIFI.
I would pay about $40 instead of $123 from TimeWarner to get internet only.

Im thinking of switching from comcast....to another provider to save money.
the only drawback as far as I can see it would be the switching email addresses...
I don’t play online games...and watch very little in the way of video so I dont really require the enormous speed that cable offer.

Get your own domain and then you have your own portable email address forever. It is not expensive and is easy enough to do.
