Rand Paul warns of blue Texas: GOP needs people ‘with tattoos’

Sen. Rand Paul, who represents Kentucky, said his home state of Texas could easily switch from a Republican stronghold to a Democratic voting block if the GOP doesn’t open its arms and take in more working class and more minorities.

“Texas will be a Democratic state within 10 years if you don’t change,” he said at a Houston dinner with Sen. John Cornyn, CNN reported. “That doesn’t mean we give up on what we believe in, but it means we have to be a more welcoming party. We have to welcome people of all races. We need to welcome people of all classes — business class, working class.”

Didn’t crazy Maxine Waters or one of those ‘RAT loons request taxpayer money from Congress to pay for tattoo removal for her constituents so they could get jobs?

“We have to welcome people of all races. We need to welcome people of all classes — business class, working class.”

We already do welcome all people. If I wanted to hear the propaganda that the republican party doesnt welcome people of certain races and classes, I can get that garbage from the democrats. Why is rand paul repeating such nonsense?

To bring in minorities and the working class, the message is simple- The promise of big government is a lie.

Pssst...Rand. The KKK and Planned Parenthood were founded by Democrats. And the Democrats abhor rich people. Who’s not being welcoming?

He is entirely right that the GOP needs some kind of image makeover. You can protest that all you want, but the 2012 elections, for both Congress and the White House, sadly speak for themselves. They need to understand how the public perceives them it is not enough that they know themselves what they advocate.

Disappointing. The implication is that the GOP isn’t welcoming.

Yet, another story where Rand claims must become dems so they can win.
What is the deal with the Paul family?

For what it’s worth.. I have always despised the attempt to put all Conservatives into a specific group. Upper middle class, white, country club jetting people.. Just look at FR. The ages vary, the incomes vary, the religions vary, the employment/education vary. Conservatives accept ALL types of people that hold one thing in common: conservative values.

I have tattoos...I’m just not showing them off, like they think you should...

And I do not consider it a distraction to my extreme right-wing conservative roots which have never been compromised or waivered in my adult life...

Piercings. The GOP needs people with piercings. Preferably in “private” places.

I would have LOVED to have heard the sentiments of the Texans who were threatened by that "Yankee" from Kentucky that they, the TEXANS had to change, or else. I bet they just LOOOOOooooved it. [NOT!!]

I’ll compromise with Sen. Paul.

Let’s recruit those guys with tattoos of an Anchor, or a Heart with the word “Mother” on the upper arm. Maybe the occasional sailing ship or hula girl on the chest.

Required qualification:
Must have served in the U.S. Navy or Merchant Marine. A good story about a rambunctious night of the town filled with some regrets would help.

Also, NOT people with the Charles Manson type swastika on their forehead or anywhere on their face for that matter.

Besides, the apple does not fall far from the libertarian tree where Rand Paul’s political ideology rests...Just like Ron Paul...

This is political subversion 101...Divert attention, get everyone’s bowels in an uproar on something so stupid that it occupies the mindset of what is left of republican party leadership where they cannot tie their own shoes without tripping over themselves...

What is the GOP doing to be “not welcoming”? A vote is a vote is a vote. Telling the GOP to be “more welcoming” just means that they must pander to people who will never vote for them, anyway.

“We have to welcome people of all races. We need to welcome people of all classes — business class, working class.”

...this certainly gives liberals ammo to continue their idiotic claim that we exclude the above. It’s the exact opposite and he knows it. This is complete BS!

A false assumption. People of all races, with or without tattoos, are welcome in the R party And it can only hurt the party for a Visible R to be running around saying otherwise.
