Health Insurance Enforcement Delayed Again for Some Employers
New York Times ^ | February 10, 2014 | By Robert Pear

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration announced Monday that it would again delay enforcement of a federal requirement for certain employers to provide health insurance to employees, giving medium-size companies extra time to comply.

The “employer mandate,” which was supposed to take effect last month, was delayed to Jan. 1, 2015, and now the administration will allow a phase-in beyond that date for some businesses with more than 50 employees. Businesses with fewer than 50 employees were already exempt.

Under the Affordable Care Act, larger employers are generally subject to tax penalties if they fail to offer “minimum essential coverage” to full-time employees and their dependents.

The administration laid out a three-tier approach.

For larger employers with 100 or more employees (about 2 percent of employers): Seventy percent of employees must be offered coverage in 2015, and in later years at least 95 percent of employees must be offer coverage. Employers that do not meet these standards will be subject to tax penalties.

For employers with 50 to 99 employees (about 2 percent of employers): Companies with 50 to 99 employees will have an extra year, until 2016, to provide coverage or pay tax penalties.

For small businesses with fewer than 50 employees (about 96 percent of all employers): These companies will not be required to provide coverage or fill out any forms in any year. . .

Love how they report it. As ho hum. Just policy. No analysis or mention of politics or elections, etc.

How to create a socialist state by Saul Alinsky

Saul David Alinsky (January 30, 1909 – June 12, 1972) was an American community organizer and writer. He is generally considered to be the founder of modern community organizing. He is often noted for his book Rules for Radicals.

There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist state.
The first is the most important:

1) Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people
2) Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun Control – Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)
6) Education – Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.
7) Religion – Remove the belief in the God from the Government and
schools
8) Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor

So how does that work if you’re an employee and your employer yanks your insurance?

Does the “individual mandate” then kick in for them, and they have to scramble to purchase their own insurance?

If so I predict a significant amount of unhappy grumbling from those who receive this Obama-Sebelius fistoscopy.

Maybe they’ll remember long enough to take their misery to the voting booth.

Case in point as to why Republicans will not negotiate on immigration reform. Obama isn’t to be trusted to enforce law or to refrain from rewriting it to his liking.

No One in the GOP will take him to Court?

That would require a spine.

Looks like equal protection of the law is a goner. Oh, What the heck, He’s ruling by whimsy, now.

Won’t it still be illegal for insurance companies to write those policies?

It’ll still be illegal for those companies not to provide insurance. It’s just that they won’t be fined. That doesn’t mean they CAN’T be fined.

What will this do to premiums?

They can be sued for selling policies that violate the law.

Could you provide a source for this. It’s the blueprint of the obama regime.

That reminds me of a great cartoon. You could substitute the Repub congress for this cartoon's title.

Seems the New York Times doesn't care if Obama takes over the job of Congress. Breaks the law...

Whatever...

He's their King.

How's business going for you guys at the New York Times? More downsizing? More layoffs?

You know it's NOT the internet that doing newspapers in - it's the brain-dead biased content. And lack of outrage for anything when it's done by a Democrat...

No One in the GOP will take him to Court?

Court? They need to zero out the budget items for every single thing Obama wants until he begs them to let him play President again.

They won't do it because - just like his predecessor - what Obama wants is what the bankers want, and no one in the GOP dares to pick that fight.
