Better watch out, Preservatives might just be preserving you

Public service announcement from Grace Slick and the rest of the better living through chemicals advocates at Jefferson Airplane (Starship)

JEFFERSON AIRPLANE
Eat Starch Mom Lyrics
Songwriters: Kaukonen, Jorma; Slick, Grace;

He's just an American boy
And he loves his machine
No back-talk from a machine
When was the last time a television set
Gave you shit about who you met last night?
No back-talk machine

If your motor doesn't turn over smooth for you
You don't feed it right
Give it a little grease
Give it a little gas

Drive straight on through the night
Man-made mechanical mover
Love your machine
You say nothing’s right but natural things
Ah, you fool
Poison oak is a natural plant

Why don't you put some in your food?
Natural food
I don't care if there's chemicals in it
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
As long as my lettuce is crisp

Preservatives might just be preserving you
I think that's something you missed
Ya you missed it
Man-made mechanical mover
I love his machine
He's just an American boy
And I love his machine

Smooth moving steel
Keep your engine warm and wet
Be friendly to your steel
Feed it right, your mechanical pet
Then get behind the wheel
Put a little starch in the old Corvette

Then give it a feel
Smooth moving steel, give it a feel
Man-made mechanical mover
It'll move faster than you can
Vegetable lover

They will read it back to you as "beef", and you can't get them to say Hamburger. Always made me wonder what their idea of "beef" actually is.

I cannot speak to what they use today, but in the early '80s the beef topping were little frozen pellets. There was certainly beef in it, as well seasonings and some chemicals. As the stuff was frozen I don't know what the chemicals did. The beef pellets looked the same as the pork pellets (which is NOT the same as the Italian sausage).

In our store it was not a standard menu topping, and was mainly used for the meat sauce for the spaghetti and cavatini (Pizza Hut macaroni dish), but you could request it. Those who requested hamburger would be offered meatballs, which were beefy enough, but definitely of the frozen school cafeteria variety, but much better than the canned Chef-boy-ardi type.

If all the artificial components are removed from Kraft Cheese-like Substance Slices there will be nothing left but the wrapper.

American cheese is a mixture of cheddarish cheeses with its soul removed and wrapped in its own little transparent shroud. Why bother buying it when you can buy real cheese for a little bit more?

I buy them (Borden brand) because they taste good on hamburgers. Add mayonnaise, Ketchup, mustard, tomato slice, and pickles. If the meat and bun are good then you have a nice cheeseburger.

they should call it “Canadian cheese” judging from the number of commercial run on the Vancouver CBC affiliate..

anyway I will always buy craft (not Kraft) products. we get really good WA cheese here.

I’ve been eating it most of my life (almost 60). Thank God somebody is going to save me from it.

Sheesh.
