Florida trooper who pulled over 120mph police officer sues for $500,000

A Highway Patrol trooper who caught another officer speeding to an off-duty job at 120mph is suing for more than $500,000 - saying his allies harassed her after he was fired. Florida's Donna Jane Watts made national headlines after handcuffing Miami Police Department officer Fausto Lopez, while he was in full uniform and driving a police car. Since the incident in 2011 she claims she has had threatening calls on her cell phone, police cars idling outside her house and fellow officers accessing her private driver's license information. Ms Watts - who is suing more than 25 police agencies - said she is even afraid to open her mailbox. Other calls included prank calls and orders for pizza, she claimed. In a lawsuit she said law enforcement officers had long been known to band together and protect each other, but her case took things too far. According to her lawyer, she suspected her private driver's license information was being accessed by fellow officers, so she made a public records request with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. It allegedly showed at least 88 law enforcement officers from 25 different agencies accessed Watts' driver's license information more than 200 times - in just three months. Ms Watts is suing those police agencies and the individual officers under the federal Driver Privacy Protection Act, a 1994 law that provides for a penalty of $2,500 for each violation if the information was improperly accessed. Watts' attorney, Mirta Desir, said it was clear most of the officers had no legitimate reason to look up her data. If all the searches were found illegal, Watts could receive more than $500,000.

This is part of the chickafication of America. A man would know, you don't handcuff a fellow officer. The chick follows the rules maniacally. Then gets upset when other officers get p-o'ed at her stupidity of not following the unwritten rules of a male group. So, she turns to Father State (Vaterstaat in the original German) to make things right and protect her. I bet, if she hadn't handcuffed the guy, she wouldn't have got the reaction that she did.
The War on Men continues...

You forgot the sarcasm tag; but that's some pretty accurate jock faggot lingo.

I no longer converse with the man to me he is as the character ‘Phillip Nolan’ from Edward Hale’s short story ‘The Man Without a Country’.

He is to be shunned and avoided and in the end pitied.

I would not arrest a man who was stealing a loaf of bread because he was down..I would arrest someone who was stealing a loaf of bread who had plenty of money

What about the victim? You know, the baker who gets up at 4AM to bake and sell the bread.

What about the victim's children? The victim's poorly mother? His house payment? Etc...

Who all do you steal from because you are 'down and out'?

When you break into my home, is it OK for me to shoot you dead only if you are rich?

“The particular offense of speeding to or from a second job as private security is one of the more common officer traffic offenses.”

I live in the SF Bay Area. Thanks to “the stimulus” I 680 through the San Ramon Valley has been completely “rehabilitated.” One night last year at 15 minutes before midnight, I was southbound on I 680 in Concord (right near the local CHP office. There were nearly no other vehicles on the road going my direction. Then, in my rear view mirror I spotted two vehicles traveling at an extremely high rate of speed traveling one right behind the other. I work as a race official at Laguna Seca, and I routinely watch cars traveling at high speeds. When they passed me (two CHP Crown Vics), I would estimate that they were traveling at 125 mph! No lights, no sirens, just driving at twice the posted speed limit! Where were they going? Ten minutes later, I passed them both. They were the “graveyard shift” sitting on the I 680 night road construction in Alamo, CA. So I guess they justified their speeding because they were in danger of “being late” for their shift (sleeping in their cruisers with their lights on “protecting the workers” from speeders)! Just disgraceful, and worrisome in that they could have killed someone and probably gotten away with it. It’s just another example of the “why does a dog lick his balls, because he can” syndrome that applies to LEOs.

In many states that 120 is FELONY reckless endangerment. She did the right thing. When law enforcement is allowed to violate the laws we have Eric Holder.

Law for thee but not for me.

I had a comment but it looks like you’ve been appropriately smacked enough by others so I’ll refrain.

What's with the *pack mentality*?
If you have personal issues with someone, do you feel the need to ping a dozen cohorts to help attack him?

RE 120 MPH:

Especially in lieu of the fact that a lot of departments have been told to lay off high-speed chases because of the danger they pose to innocent pedestrians, traffic, etc.

She did the right thing. And of course, as in many cases where the right thing is not the popular thing, she’s being raked over the coals for it.

Integrity, honor... there not just quaint, antiquated words. They mean things.

And when you live in a graceless age, you get to deal with graceless people who have ZERO concept of honor and integrity... and he we get Holder.

You are indeed correct, friend.

Why ping others? Because when a certain poster consistently and constantly over many months attempts to belittle and bash our country on this site then he deserves to be called out. Or when he never stops attempting to paint other FReepers as idiots or fools for staying in America. Or when he attempts to portray his lifestyle, (As if no other FReeper is living his own life’s dream and in his own dream location), in some third world as preferable to life in America. Do you also think America bashing here is okay? Do you think you should be looked at as stupid or foolish for living in America?

"If you have personal issues with someone, do you feel the need to ping a dozen cohorts to help attack him?"

Sure...why not? We all have issues with the cowardly liar that goes by the name AlexW, so whenever he raises his cowardly head to pollute a thread with his lies and anti-American BS, we all want a chance to ridicule him.

Speaking just for myself, I don't particularly like Americans deserting their nation in her time of need, but that's their business, not mine. As long as they pay their taxes, and don't bash America from their "safe" (that delusion is another subject entirely) beach chairs thousands of miles away, I have no problem -- I'll even wish them luck...they'll need it WTSHTF. But not only does Alex bash America, he also actively recruits other FReepers to desert America, just when conservatives are needed most. He then Monday morning quarterbacks all of our nation's problems, rubbing our noses in them while sipping Mai Tais on the beach in the Philippines.

To make matters worse, and why I have a particular problem with the coward these days, is he lied about me behind my back on a recent thread, by saying I had said his sister gets his Social Security check. Not only did I not say that, but up to that point, I had no idea he had a sister, or that she lives in California. Compounding the problem is that he didn't even have the common FReeper courtesy to ping me to the post, so I could know he was talking about me. As you can see, I always ping that cowardly liar whenever I mention his yellow a** in a post. He, however, likes to talk about people behind their backs, and is too cowardly to come out and face me when I call him out on it.

Which reminds me, Alex...where's the quote, liar?

I could go on, but I won't. Trust me, any and every patriotic American on FReep should get steamin' mad at Alex's continued presence on this forum. He stands for everything that's wrong with "or side", and we manger dawgs (or as I prefer these days, dawg soldiers), are determined to show up each and every time he pops up to pollute this forum, to counter the lies, cowardice, and anti-American rot he spews forth from his sewer hole mouth.

Again Alex, where's the quote, you bald-faced liar? Still afraid to face me, chicken? I'm mocking your for your worthless, lying chickenheartedness. Come on out and face me...just remember to bring the quote, you liar.

Growl...

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Some basic research back through said poster’s commentaries would shine a light on the whole thing.

I’ll leave it at that.
