A 70-year-old nurse, who was described by her co-worker as a “sweet old lady,” was knocked to the floor and beaten repeatedly in the head until she was unconscious. The attacker was the patient for whom she was caring.
On Friday afternoon, Evelyn Lynch was taking out the catheter of 40-year-old Kwincii Jones as she was preparing to discharge him from Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, NY. Police reported that Jones struck the nurse on the head and kicked her in the face, causing serious injuries. “I actually hear she was a sweet old lady,” a Brookdale employee told CBS 2. “That’s why it’s a little weird to me because I don’t know why it would happen. It’s not like she was mean or anything like that.”

Here’s some advice. If you are ever getting one of these removed or a drainage tube, ask the nurse if it’s true that there’s a balloon in there. It’s a friendly way to remind them to deflate it.

Wow, all I did when the sweet young nurse jerked my catheter out was say: “I would hit you if I could move”. She, without missing a beat said: “It’s no big thing”. I went back to sleep a bit humbler.
I am quite sure that Catheter removal from males should be done by hospital security only.
