House GOP leaders announced Tuesday they will advance this week an increase in the government's borrowing cap that's free of any add-ons. A vote is scheduled for Tuesday night because of the threat of a winter storm.
House Speaker John Boehner announced the plan after a poll of the Republican rank and file failed to show enough support for a plan to tie the hike in the debt limit to a plan to reverse a recently passed cut to military pensions.
The Ohio Republican said he expected virtually all of President Barack Obama's Democratic allies to vote for the so-called clean debt cap increase but that he would be one of the few Republicans to back it in the vote.

We did that twice.
This year, the battle will be fought and won, not in the assembled House but in the districts maintaining the House and gaining the Senate.
It has been done many times before in similar circumstances.

Frankly, I find it hard to blame Boehner for this....is anyone denying his statement?
Yep, which is why the GOP is about to implode. It has ceased being the opposition party and made a mockery of why anyone should vote for them to hold on to the House or gain control over the Senate. Time to sit the next election out.
Either the republicans believe they can win without true conservatives voting, or they simply don’t want to win.

This time last year they gave up any power they had and wrote obama a blank check.
I’m with you. Gas is way too expensive to waste driving to the polls to waste my vote. I wasted the last two.
By the way, is there a dollar amount they’ve agreed to? Or is it another blank check for obama?
Here’s what Sen Ted Cruz just had to say about this bill being passed....
“This is a mistake. Not a good sign when the bill that we pass, is the exact same Bill that would pass if we had Speaker Nancy Pelosi. That’s a sign that we’re going down the wrong road. In the Senate, I’ve already indicated my intention to object this Bill coming up - raising the debt ceiling with just the 50 votes threshold - I’m going to insist on a 60 vote threshold...”

Good to see this from Sen. Cruz. Ultimately, he likely can't kill the debt ceiling increase, since it will easily get 60 votes in the Senate. But still, good to see SOMEONE drawing attention to the nonsense.
What’s the max on this credit card? $30 trillion? $40 trillion? When will our bonds be like Venezuela toilet paper? Where is the voice of our grandchildren in this debt debate? They’re the ones with the most to lose.
Nobody in the entire federal political class gives a crap about any of this. Pray for America.
