FCC to exam "perceived station bias"
Wall Street Journal ^ | Feb. 10, 2014 | Ajit Pal

News organizations often disagree about what Americans need to know. MSNBC, for example, apparently believes that traffic in Fort Lee, N.J., is the crisis of our time. Fox News, on the other hand, chooses to cover the September 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi more heavily than other networks. The American people, for their part, disagree about what they want to watch.

But everyone should agree on this: The government has no place pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories.

Unfortunately, the Federal Communications Commission, where I am a commissioner, does not agree. Last May the FCC proposed an initiative to thrust the federal government into newsrooms across the country. With its "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs," or CIN, the agency plans to send researchers to grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. A field test in Columbia, S.C., is scheduled to begin this spring.

Have you noticed a particularly high profile for one network in the Administration's most recent protestations, as I have?

Now I understand. It's the FCC old Fairness Doctrine revisited.

Obama wants to control the media. That is what dictators do. As long as he can’t control FR.

So is the FCC going to take all the NBC propaganda networks, including the government sponsored business channel and the atrociously Left MSNBC, off the air, or only Fox News?

The execs at CBS, serving nursing homes everywhere, and CNN, serving Communists everywhere, will be happy with that decision.

Take a look at NPR...They tilt so far left, they make Lenin look like a conservative.

What? They are only going to look at conservative stations? Never mind...

Ve vill tell you what to report on, what to watch and what to believe.

I guess “we the people” are just too informed still and need to be dumbed down and indoctrinated even harder so that the ‘Obama Utopia’ can come to pass in our lifetimes. No matter how short a time we have left to live them.

Obama hates our 1st and 2nd Amendments.

Totalitarians power is not compatible with the truth. It is like daylight to cockroaches. They cannot survive exposure.

Well, old What’s His Name did say something about a pen and a telephone. He might have had a conversation with his already stacked FCC about talk radio and FOX. They are talking about overthrowing this transformative government through that darned ballot box. Can’t have that now, can we.

I’m glad they’re focusing so much on Governor Christie here in NJ; I don’t think he ever intended to run for president, and he’ll continue winning here in NJ because he’ll take on the teachers’ unions. In the meantime, the real potential presidential candidates can continue their campaigns.

Cleverly disguised way of putting the government in control of broadcast media. You will say what we want you to say or you’re off the air.

So now this corrupt administration is harassing its enemies through the fcc as well as the irs.

Brent Bozell’s organization - and the information they’ve been collecting for years - might really come in handy at this point.

"Critical Information Needs", with the government deciding what is "Critical Information" and what is not.

Latest updates on the Global Climate Change crisis, and the latest dirt on Chris Christie = critical information.

Benghazi, and anything unflattering about Obamacare = not critical.

Utterly unsurprising.

We are in a Soviet coup. Period. At some point the killing begins.
