Barack Obama has been an indefatigable and unstinting supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, as well as of its proxies in the U.S. Thus it is not surprising that U.S. Embassy employees in Cairo would be Brotherhood allies as well. Obama was the target of vociferous criticism during the anti-Brotherhood demonstrations last summer for his uncritical support of the Brotherhood.

"A security source reported National Security arrested Ahmed A., a U.S embassy employee in charge of the political Islam file. The source added that the employee was in constant contact with Khairat el-Shater, First Deputy of the General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, when the group ruled the country."

OK, the arrest was a close associate of el-Shater, long time MB leader. Who was conduit between el-Shater and Morsi.

Russia AND China (who would veto any UN move against Syria's Assad) and the Saudis have also rallied behind Egyptian Gen al-Sisi and denounced the Muslim slaughter of Christans in Egypt.

As the post-Morsi crisis unfolded, Gen al-Sisi was joined in his effort by China and Russia (Putin is a committed Christian) in decrying The Muslim Brotherhood's attack on Egyptian Christian's churches, homes and businesses.

Moreover, last summer, the Saudis, the Kuwaitis, and the UA Emirates deposited over $12 billion in Egyptian government accounts as a down payment.....w/ more $$aid to come to support Gen al-Sisi's anti-Muslim Brotherhood effort.

Alas, one personage is notably absent from this effort---that would be US President Obama. He vengefully exerted financial pressure by “cutting” US military aid to Egypt... but it's NOT working.

China, Russia and the Arabs stood foursquare by Egypt and in the process smacked down Qatar, the Turkish M corrupt Erdogan....AND, most of all, the Islamofascist Obama administration.

Embassy officials said the employee, Ahmed Alaiba, has been held without charge for more than two weeks. He was detained on Jan. 25, the third anniversary of the Arab Spring revolt, in the neighborhood of Mohandessin.

The government recently filed criminal charges against 20 journalists, accusing them of conspiring with the Brotherhood to spread false reports about civil strife in Egypt. Some of the journalists have said they believe they were arrested for attempting to contact the Brotherhood and report on the views of its members.

Zway and Alfitory were construction workers who quit comfortable jobs to volunteer for the Western journalists that flooded into Benghazi when the February protests turned to armed rebellion.

How it began

“It all came by chance at the beginning,” Zway tells me during a trip to London to collect his award.

“The protests were over and the fighting was just beginning. Only a few were fighting and had gone to the frontline. A lot of journalists came in and wanted to get an idea of what was happening.”

“No one really knows anything about Libya,” Alfitory says, “but suddenly all these journalists came to Benghazi to find out what was going on”.

“In the beginning I had decided to fight with the rebels, as it was our duty to protect our city. But just for a moment, until in my mind I realised that to help the journalists would be a much better cause. Back in February there were a lot of people starting to fight but not many helping journalists.”

Zway and Alfitory are now in London to attend the Rory Peck Awards ceremony, and will stay for two weeks to “unwind after eight months of conflict”.

Their trip was part-funded by Jon Lee Anderson and organised by a group of journalists who worked with them, including Fadel.
